oh ya I know people are using it, but not because they are stuck there due to covid - that's the silly thing.

yes I know, when covid first hit people couldn't travel, but that hasn't been the case for more than a year. It's just a visa extension, so why not just call it that.

I know what it is. I've had one. But how many people really cannot travel due to covid?

most immigration offices will not give you the covid extension until you have first obtained the 30 day extension

just for clarification, I wasn't suggesting the post was silly, moreso the policy. Just don't know why they have to pretend that people are unable to travel. Similar to the silly 30 day extension (why not just offer a 90 day visa?).
Craig *******
This is so silly - I can't imagine anyone has legitimately qualified for this extension in the past year.

I have an email from the Thai Ottawa embassy confirming that the return date doesn't matter. So will show it to flight check-in staff if necessary. My flight is booked for exactly 90 days.

did you have a one way ticket? Did you have TR or were you entering visa exempt? There is always a risk with airlines, but if faced with that I would simply ask them to sell me a fully refundable ticket out.
Craig *******
Some countries (Canada) only care about the outgoing flight, not the return.

Also if the airline were to deny you boarding, you simply buy a fully refundable ticket right on the spot, and cancel once you pass through thai immigration
