Do I have to report my 90-day stay at the immigration office in my district in Thailand?

Hi, 90 day reporting questions:

Do I have to go to the office that's in the district that I'm staying in? The reason I ask is that I'm in Bangkok but I just went to book an online appointment and there is nothing available for 2 weeks. The first appointment available is day 97 for me. I realize you can file 7 days beyond the 90 without penalty, but that's leaving it close?

I know I don't need an appointment, but there's nothing worse than having to wait 4-6 hours at Chaeng Wattana.

So I thought going to Samut Sakhon would be much more convenient (my GF drives there every day for work) and not likely very busy. But is this acceptable?

If not, should I book day 97 for online appt. or take my chances just showing up at CW?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The 90-day reporting in Thailand must generally be done in person at the immigration office corresponding to your registered address (TM30). Although appointments can be made online, they may not be available until after your reporting deadline, which could lead to potential penalties. It is advised to go directly to the immigration office, such as Chaeng Wattana, in person at your earliest opportunity to avoid complications, especially since wait times can be lengthy. If this is your first report, you will need to complete it in person, but subsequent reports may be able to be done online.

You can do the 90day online. That doesn’t apply though if you miss the date you should have done it.

Hi, ok thanks for the replies. So yes this is my first one, so I have to go in person. I went ahead and booked on the first available appointment which falls on my 97th day (including day I arrive). One last question - I'm on a DTV and staying 179 days, so I'll just need to do it this one time. However when return in Oct for the next 180, can I do my reporting online? Wasn't sure what they mean by doing for the first time (do they reset the counter every time you leave or will next year's be considered my second time?)

No, after exiting Thailand your first report must be in person again (try online just in case it works)

I missed a 90 day report earlier in the year, so had to go in person to CW to do my 90 day report and pay my fine prior to my visa renewal. Rolled up ( no appointment) and asked for my que ticket at the last window nearest counter B. Rather than giving me a number ticket they gave me a priority card, which took me a few minutes to work out what it was. Hung outside the priority desk for those few minutes comparing the signage with the card and the officer called me straight in for processing. Quickest turn around ever. She read me the riot act about missing the last report though on the stroll to pay my fine at counter A. I suspect one can always ask for a priority ticket if your over a certain age.

Surely the safe solution is to go and do it in person at the earliest opportunity.. meaning abandon the idea of an appointment and just go and queue up and get it done.. yes it may well mean you are there longer.. but it takes all the worry away from this dilemma.. and if you go early you may get done sooner than you think.. besides in my experience appointments are not rigid anyway and you often have to wait way beyond your allotted time to get seen!

You have to use your last registered address, which is assume is Bangkok.... you are registered in a hotel correct? Use the TM30 from that and register in Bangkok.

If its your 1st one you have to do in person but after that you should be able to do online. You do have to use the office that serves the area where your address is registered. You should be able to just turn up without an appointment but may have to wait a while

Is this you're first report because if not you can report online?

You have to do 90-day report in person at the immigration office that serves your address on your TM30.

If you count the days correctly, it'd be okay. As long as you go to CW and get the queue, you will served within the day. Totally up to you how and when you want to go for 90-day report.

If you have made your first 90-day report at imigration, you can make the next report on the internet

@Ellie ******
thanks, but I've read in several places that you can do the 90 day report in any immigration office. I happen to be very close to the Samut Sakhon one (it's much closer than CW)

, As I wrote, you need to do 90-day report at the office that serves the address on your latest TM.30. You cannot do "anywhere as you wish". If you can provide the latest TM.30 receipt with the address in Samut Sakhon, you can submit a 90-day report there.

and I was able to "report" at Jomtien, then when I went to CW to get a residence certificate" ,they fined me 800 baht. It has to be done at your home office, no exception.

Honestly, I'm not sure whether "7 days after" includes due date or not. Hope someone can clarify. My personal experience says 7 days including the due date. But other moderator would say different.

Personally, because of this, I wouldn't try the "7 days after" in western way.
