I used to do this a lot with Budget Rent a Car. Rent in one town, return in usually Pattaya or Bangkok. Always very reasonable prices and no hassle.

Is it legal to bring prescribed medication for someone else into Thailand?

I buy all my drugs in Thailand and take back to Australia, far cheaper. It does pay to shop around though as prices are hugely inflated in some areas. Last time I used a online pharma company and had my needs delivered to my hotel at a good discount.
