Slightly off-topic, but since many people here are on workation or working remotely, I think this is the best place to ask:

I plan to bring my PC/computer setup with me during my workation (DTV) stay in Thailand. Since it’s too big for my suitcase, I want to ship it via UPS. UPS is asking me to declare the value of the PC for customs purposes.

Do I need to pay VAT or import taxes? As far as I know, tourists don’t need to pay VAT or import taxes on personal items. I’ve always brought my laptop with me for stays of several months in Thailand without any issues. This PC is a used item, part of my personal belongings, and I intend to return it to Germany once my workation is over.

Has anyone in this group experienced a similar situation with shipping a PC or computer setup?

PS: Im from Germany (if that matters somehow lol).

Has anyone ever tried to export a motorcycle from Thailand and import it into the UK? The Honda CT125 is not available in the UK and a family member is asking if I can help out.

For clarity, specialist importers are offering the bike in the UK at 2.5x the price here in Thailand.

If you don’t know, and/or have nothing valuable to contribute please refrain from commenting.

It looks like Amazon is out of the picture in regards to buying something for Thailand. There are huge import taxes.

Hi Friends, I want to bring a 20’ or 40’ container of my household goods from USA to Thailand. Just stuff I have owned for years and impossible or expensive to replace here. I have heard that if I get a work permit I can import my household stuff without paying tariffs/taxes. I feel that the right agent can get this done smoothly and with little or no tariffs/taxes. Do any of you know who can do it?

Hey guys.. not really a visa info thing, and it’s a bit left of field for this group..but I was wondering if it was possible too get my custom built trike registered/licensed in Thailand, obviously it has all the lights ( ie headlights, taillights indicators etc although not depicted in this pic)..I want to bring it with me when I retire there and use it…and I’m unsure of who or where too approach finding that info out, and was wondering if any ex-pats have imported their own bikes, modified or not and the process they went through to getting them on the road there…cheers guys🍺, any legit info greatly appreciated..🤘🏻

Greetings everyone!. I hope everyone is having an amazing day.

I am getting this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to relocate to Geneva (Switzerland) from Bangkok for about two years (might extent to 5 years) with my family (3 members). I know it is coming at a cost after living cheaply in Bangkok for the last few years. Since I see here that the majority of the expat members are from the west and have lived in Asia, I am looking for some advice on the relocation.

It is worth transporting all the household goods there, considering the house I would rent is not fully furnished without relocation cost support from my company. If so, which service should I use to transport it? Our mountain bikes are one item we would like to take. Is it worth it? Any advice would be highly appreciated as we prepare.
