Do it yourself it’s rather but not necessarily easy. I will help you understand the process and get to know the immigration folks. You’ll start to get to know them.
My experience is no easy way unless you have a Non-B, then the schook will take care of it for you. I’ve been in Thailand almost 90 days on an O Retirement visa and just opened an account 2 weeks ago. I’ve been trying for 2 months.
Could you have called someone outside the boat (if you had phone service) to assist and get help or call tourist police or call police? Or whatever the 911 equivalent is here in Thailand.
I agree with the comment about this not being America.
If I was an attorney I’d be asking why you did not try some other things besides begging to take you back to shore.
The mandatory insurances here are garbage in my opinion.
Check all your policies for any type of coverage, maybe even your credit cards. The CC’s sometimes have little claims you can make.
Are you from a country with disability? Apply for disability benefits immediately. In America if you’re truly disabled you’ll get benefits right away. If they have to investigate, planting your flag with a claim right now (Just a telephone call) will establish a back date. If it takes a year to start benefits they send you a big check from the date you filed a claim.
The WISE credit card works, some ATMs work (it’s frustrating when 2 or 3 different ATMs in a row don’t work), and transferring money is always delayed.
The app states the money is transferred immediately, deducts it from your account but the transferee doesn’t get the money until 10 hours later or the next day.
So try to pay for a months rent to move in and all you get is receipt that the money was paid but the other party doesn’t have the money.
Right, remember WISE is not a bank so its not insured if it goes belly up. They say your money is safe but who knows until that statement is tested. The goal is to be my own bank.
From the comments I’ll keep my WISE account. Any other alternatives to WISE worth having as a secondary reserve of accessible money. I did not want to keep all my funds in one app in case they go bust.
