Has anyone bought a Starlink system to use the internet for their laptop in Thailand?
I guess there is a mini starlink.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the potential use of Starlink internet in Thailand, with users sharing their thoughts on its current availability and performance. Some comments indicate that Starlink is not yet operational in Thailand, while others express interest in it due to poor experiences with local internet providers, particularly in condos with restrictive juristic offices. Comparisons are made between Starlink and existing fiber options from providers like AIS and True, with some praising local internet quality as being better and cheaper than in the UK. There's also mention of specific use cases, like for those living in areas with limited internet access. Furthermore, users discuss privacy concerns regarding the Thai government's access to browsing history.

Fiber internet packages from AIS, True, etc are going to be the best for most people for a long time. The value prop is too good to turn down (I’m a subscriber myself).
For those living in areas with limited Internet access options (islands, countryside, etc), Starlink is going to be a game changer.
Also for those who don’t want the Thai government to have access to their browsing history (for whatever reason).
And "they" also have condos all over Thailand with bloody-minded juristic offices which prevent you from selecting any internet provider other than the one approved vendor who may have very mediocre service. Worse, a single gigabit fibre line is often shared by dozens of units, resulting in very poor performance.
In my condo just getting internet turned on in my unit requires a 16k baht prepayment. To a company well-known for rather indifferent customer service and support.
We don't all live on a farm in Isaan.
But beyond that, it's a known fact that Thailand's internet connection to the west is limited in terms of bandwidth. Using a satellite service bypasses that significant bottleneck.
whatever internet available at your condo is for sure cheaper and better performance than starlink. Starlink not intended for condos, you can't even see the sky
Yes, some places are definitely better than others. Starlink is suited for remote locations where there aren’t too many people sharing the same beam footprint.
In densely populated areas, existing fiber connections and 5G are going to be better options.

I'll definitely be looking at one when they turn on Thailand. I've had really bad luck with juristic offices being buttheads about internet providers in their units.
