The difference is (and this is known to border immigration officers) is one you have paid for, the other is free. It appears that immigration officers do not like those entering frequently on free entries

's response was reasonable and factual, but you said he was giving bad advice. Every immigration office has its own policies. I know many people in Bangkok prefer the mail option as it's easy and 100% effective.

is correct. In Bangkok all 90-day reporting can be done by mail. Because of the inconsistency in the online reporting and because it's a wasted day to go to CW immigration, I've done every 90-day report by mail for about the last eight years. Works every time, even on first reports after having been out of the country.
