The new travel tax for entering Thailand has sparked a lively debate among expats and tourists. While some view it as a negligible addition to the flight cost, others see it as a potential hindrance to tourism. The conversation highlights differing perspectives on the principle of such fees, comparisons to taxes in other countries, and the need for clearer communication about visa requirements and problems. There are also comments addressing the need for resolutions surrounding existing visa issues that tourists face.
Yep. Typical Cheap Foreigner. Thai people pay a hundred dollars or more for a visa, and the Septic Tank complains about 300 baht. ππππππ
People who complain about taxes are basically narcissists

Good grief. If it's such a huge financial issue for people, they should not be travelling. I've just paid to enter USA with an esta. I will have to pay to get the same sort of thing to enter Europe. It's not a travel tax. It's a form that pre-advises details of your entry and wheedles a few who aren't permitted.
Its not gonna make me lose any sleep either, but that doesnβt make me ambivalent about the slow, insidious creep of fees, surtaxes and user fees. Not a fan
you're entitled to your opinion. And be outraged at every country that has the same type form that costs a small fee. But avoid telling other people what and how they think or that they come from shitty countries.
indeed I am. Try not to let silly exaggerations about βoutrageβ π get in your way. There is zero βoutrageβ. Just a little common sense. And the shitty country was also an observation. And a good one. You are also entitled to your opinion.
not everyone accepts the obvious very well either. What are you on about. Understandably you seem keen to hide itβ¦ as is nobody can figure it out ππ
Correct. The reason I posted this latest news release is because I mentioned the 300 baht tourist tax would be tagged onto the ETA in a post a couple of weeks ago, and got the usual round of abuse from other members in the group, and unfortunately I couldn't find the Bangkok Post article which mentioned this
Its all still subject to change just wait till its made law. Seen this idea of sorts for many years.

You won't notice it even if implemented. It'll just be added as a fee to your plane ticket cost, same as all the various fuel charges, airport fees, and many other taxes and fees already added to every ticket.
It'll be part of the ETA application process. It only applies to tourists, not to Thai citizens or non-immigrant visa holders. Hence the "tourist tax" label
It doesn't bother me in the least. This post is for information purposes, not to complain. Furthermore I have a non-O visa in Thailand so the ETA is not relevant for me
