I’m Australian for the AO visa I needed a federal police clearance, had minor stuff from 30 years ago police clearance came through clean. Ask the police to check prior to getting your certificate.

If you plan on the visa exempt extension buy your return ticket for the 86 days you intend to stay for.

As long as you have a return ticket you will be fine.
