your Air Flight Company may ask you about the return ticket within the visa time allowed and even don't let you board as they have some responsabilidades towards Thailand regulations and a return ticket on an exempt turist visa is a must, you maybe get away with it but very risky in my opinion!

You check with your country travel outside the country

and they should have all the information, previous to your travel, there are also warnings and important info about traveling to some countries and for Canada it's updated regularly.

Is there an app available for applying for entry passes in Thailand?

Apply 3 days before landing in Thailand at the proper website and they will send you a QR Code to be scanned at emigration on entry.(this a learning process as I didn't do it yet but that's my understanding and if I make an error, let me know)🙂🙏

Canceled and not accepted are different things but both can be for errors in the application or over the limit entries in Thailand.
