TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is concerned about Thailand's visa rules, believing they can only obtain a 30-day visa and a 30-day extension, instead of the expected 60-day visa exemption followed by a 30-day extension. Community comments indicate that the 60-day visa exemption is still in effect, and that changes to this policy are based on hearsay. Suggestions include applying for a regular tourist visa, considering border runs, or waiting until their travel date for updated information. The consensus is that nobody can predict the visa situation for December, emphasizing that travelers should check reliable sources and remain informed.
Too early to even think about this, just wait for any news on visa exemption either they will re think and keep at 60 or reduce to 30 , who knows, watch this space, plenty of time to chill and wait

Rubbish Nothing has changed yet So much carry on over a rumour
he mentioned going for visa. Those are applied for online, with e-visa at an embassy. If he wants to enter without doing e-visa, a border run will give him 60 days NO VISA entry. Can extend that by 30 days at immigration. 2 different things. One is a visa from embassy, the other is entering without a visa.
You check with your country travel outside the country
and they should have all the information, previous to your travel, there are also warnings and important info about traveling to some countries and for Canada it's updated regularly.

The 60 day visa exemption is still in effect. Who knows what will happen by December.

Change your ticket dates or leave for a few days and return
No, the 60-day visa exemption period in Thailand has been reduced to 30 days as of March 2025. However, it's still possible to extend your stay for an additional 30 days, bringing the total to 60 days, by visiting a local immigration office and paying a fee. This applies to the visa-free entry and the tourist visa.
don’t give bullshit information for the sake of commenting on a post, it’s 60 days at present , only change on the horizon is the TDAC from the 28th April if you’re arriving on the 1st May an so on in three days of arrival 🤷♂️🤷♂️
not sure what you mean by "On Google" (possibly the new AI overview at the top?), but this is not true. However there may be some news articles saying that it will be reduced, though there has been no official word on that and those news sources cannot be relied on. It currently remains as 60 days. Unfortunately December is still far enough off that it may indeed change by then.
Just wait until closer to the time. Nobody knows what the rules will be next week far less December. Could still be 60+30, it could revert back to 30+30, or you do 30+30+border run or tourist visa. Who knows, you’ll get your time one way or another 🙂
Safest bet would be to use a border run service. They’ll take you to the border and make sure you get back in. You should be okay to fly out and back in, just make sure you have the three proofs…onward travel, accommodation and 20k baht or equivalent in cash. Immigration are asking more questions of people doing back to back visa exempt entries. Things work a bit different in Thailand than Europe! METV is another option.

Found out from where? It's 60 days exempt of visa.
so what would I apply for, when filling out the new form, do I ask for 60 days or do I ask for 90 days, I don't want to get turned down on my first try, I'm from Canada,
you don't ask for anything, it will ask you for your visa number which you will put Visa Exemption and the dates you are staying. It's just an automated arrival system.
it's not an application for a visa. It's not a visa. It's a form with your travel info.

Or wait until two days before your extension runs out and do a minivan border run leaves early morning and your back late afternoon same day costs 3600 baht
