I have just done 60 days on entry to Thailand

Extended this by another 30 days at Bangkok immigration

I tried to change my flight return date to leave before the end of that 30 day extension, but the company want £870 for one way so i got a Thai Airways flight foe £360 to Heathrow

Can i enter Thailand on a one way flight ticket and just book a return flight when i no my return date,seems easy to me

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster is exploring the possibility of entering Thailand with a one-way flight ticket after having recently extended their stay. Various comments offer insights: many have successfully entered Thailand on one-way tickets without issues, while others suggest having evidence of onward travel as a precaution. It's noted that while not always requested, airlines or immigration can ask for proof of exit, making it advisable to prepare accordingly.

You can use Travel Buddy. He will do your booking and keep your return for one year. Contact me

All the many times I have entered Thailand neither the airline or immigration has asked me about “onward flight”
Lynnette *******
@J *************
but did you have one? Or did you enter on one way every time?
Chris *******
@J *************
that doesn't change the rules.

You could pay a bit extra for a more flexible return ticket that allows you to change the return date at no or nominal cost.

Instead of going to the immigration office, you can take a short trip to Vietnam, Malaysia....and get another 60 days instead when you return!

Cheap flight out to Malaysia even if you don’t use it you will have a date to show.

Technically you are supposed to have an onward ticket within the 60 days. Immigration rarely check, but if course they are at liberty to do so.

More frequently, your airline asks for proof. 3 out of my last 4 trips I had to show an exit ticket. So, basically it’s a gamble.

I am here now on a one way ticket I had no issues also done a border bounce...

Here is the correct answer for tourists.

All tourist require the 3 proofs:

1 proof of exit - usually flight out

2 20k baht or equivalent in CASH

3 proof of accommodation

You may never be asked but can be if they are deciding to let you in or not.

The airline is usually the one that could require it.

I agree with you.I have been in and out of the country at least 40 times in the past 22 years and never been asked about proof of exit or money requirements,been ask about proof of accommodation once or twice.I think it's all hit or miss who you get at immigration on arrival.

In Denmark you won’t get onboard a Thai Airways flight with only a one way ticket!

Just book a onward ticket Google onward flight.

A few quid then put it in the bin when you get here

Piece of mind.

Why don’t you just pay a little bit more for your ticket and buy one that has no charge for changing your flight.

I’ve entered Thailand on a one way ticket 3 times

Just explain why and you’ll have no problems
Dave *******
@Adam ********
ate maybe you won’t it’s not a guarantee not to have problems
Lynnette *******
You said you were in Bangkok and have extended 30 days. So if you are in Bangkok why are you wanting to enter on a one way ticket. Confusing

i’ve been to Thailand several times in fact more than several times with Thai air and Eva and I’ve always been led to believe through my experience that you’ve got to have onward travel in your destination country or a return ticket within the validity of your Visa whether it’s an exempt or whatever, and they don’t take into consideration any extensions that you might get, think this is a legal requirement before they let you board

Put it this way if a Thai national was flying to the UK on the one-way ticket with a tourist visa how would that work out at the check in desk?
Lynnette *******
@Ben ********
thanks. It didn't make sense but does now🤦. As others have said, one way can be an issue but any ticket out should work: bus, cheap flights, etc
João ********
@Lynnette ******
still check with the Airlines, if they allow it!
Robert ********
@Lynnette ******
Google onwardtickets. They’re cheaper than regular tickets

Just been reading on tripadvisor about onward tickets people have been rejected their flights because there is no Ticket issue number on them? ?

@Ben ********
if you travel to Thailand on short term visa or visa exemption the airline sometimes ask for return ticket to let you board. Officially its requirement.

Look up the “3 proofs” in this group
João ********
@Ben ********
your Air Flight Company may ask you about the return ticket within the visa time allowed and even don't let you board as they have some responsabilidades towards Thailand regulations and a return ticket on an exempt turist visa is a must, you maybe get away with it but very risky in my opinion!

Same question from me also 👍,thanks for asking hope you get reply
