Whats the solution for people under to live in Thailand long term? If you don't want to get married or have kids seems like your only option is ED visas but immigration cracking down hard on it now, many people being denied entry etc. Is the elite visa the only legit option?
exactly what I’m thinking. I have a lot of friends now who are on their 3rd/4th Ed visa in a row and are terrified of being denied entry if they leave Thailand and try to return. EV might be a bit expensive but can’t put a price on peace of mind!
yeah totally agree. I’m in the process now for getting the EV visa. It’s a bit expensive but totally worth it for the peace of mind. Also after the 5 years you can renew the EV visa for another 15 years at a cost of 400,000 baht. Means for 20 years I’m paying 50,000 baht a year which all in all is fair.
thanks for your reply! Yes the ED visas seem very sketchy. I went to 5 different agencies this morning and 3 of them straight up said they couldn’t even do them at the moment. I could reach out to the schools directly but long term if I am to be in Thailand for the next 10 years then I don’t imagine 10 ED visas will look normal to immigration.
No plans to marry or have a baby!
Only other option I can think of is the digital nomad visa but doesn’t even seem like it’s available yet and not sure id qualify.
I’ll have a look at those groups for the elite visa. I’ve heard it has a few nice perks like fast lanes at the airports and a few other things.
I’m hoping that immigration will be able to understand the situation. If not and I can just go to Cambodia for a week and a come back and get a stamp in the Norwegian passport that might be the best option.
