I know this a bit different to the usual posts in this group but hoping someone can help me out.
How are the dentists in Thailand? I’ve got a really bad tooth ache and it’s a wisdom tooth so thinking I might need it removed. Never been to the dentist here so just curious what the standards and prices are like? Am I better off getting it checked back in the U.K.?
Anyway advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
Many expats report that dental services in Thailand are of high quality and significantly more affordable compared to the UK and other Western countries. Prices for dental work, including wisdom tooth extraction, range from approximately 600 to 3,000 baht, depending on the clinic and location. Recommendations for good dental clinics include Happy Tooth in Chalong, BIDC in Bangkok, and various clinics in Chiang Mai. Overall, many suggest that expats consider having dental work done in Thailand due to the lower costs and satisfactory service.
Comparing to USA ( private clinic) and hongkong ... Thailand ( int'l private clinics) are still much cheaper ... Quality of services are acceptable, ( u get what u pay for) ... Depending on what kind of services/treatments u need ...
I had root canal work done at Mahidol University in Bangkok. It is a Dental school/Teaching university . It took a bit of time to be clerked /ID card made .The treatment was professional and painless . MY wife is Thai so there was no language barrier . The cost was very reasonable . Go for it -Dental pain is not fun in any time /place .Good Luck.
I couldn't compare UK dentist to Thai dentist, but compared to US dentists they are pretty good, and much less expensive. I would recommend them. I have had crown, root canal, and implants.
You will get a treatment plan for whatever needs doing , the dentists all speak English but they are ruthless, we are Falang and have money , my experience only
The dentist there are great- highly trained and prices are way better then in the USA. Back in 2017 first trip, my buddy Damon needed work and that was one reason we went there hahaha- It was in CHaingmai and everytime we went backeach year he would go to the same one- I think I still have the business card so if you are in that area of Chaingmai DM me and I will send you a picture of the business card if I find it
Just had a similar issue. When it occurred 2 years ago they extracted 2 teeth for 2500 baht. This time,1 extraction,600 baht. Definitely recommend the Smile group.
I had two wisdom teeth removed in the Bangkok hospital as the dentist couldnt do it as it was a operation to get them out I think it was about 10,000 baht with the medication which compared to the Uk dentist its cheap
im in Bangkok also and just spoke to the NHS and a few private dentists in the U.K. nhs has a has 1 year waiting list and private was 250£ per tooth so will definitely do it in bangkok
if you register at the university hospital its where I got mine done as it was a complex extraction as they had to cut them out not a straight forward extraction so could have been cheaper at a normal dentist
I used Sea Smile in Patong Beach 2014. 5 crowns done for about $5,000 aud. 8 years later no problems. They had photo albums of happy clients categorised by country of origin. I'm a very happy customer.
Standard is similar as my home country Canada. As for price, well, health care is free in Canada but in Thailand for wisdom tooth removal between 1k and 3k baht depending on the area. So it's really inexpensive.
My wife know where to go in Phuket if you need specialist reply here I will check. But as most people say it is good quality and affordable generally. But you want best of all it does cost as well. :)
I had my wisdom tooth extracted this afternoon in Hua Hin conincidently - 900 baht. Had a clean and polish last week which was 800 baht. I get the impression standards are pretty good in Thailand although it's always worth getting recommendations.
Better here, pre covid days i met few people come over from the States have holiday and get teeth done. Worked out cheaper. No idea vs UK prices when i last had stuff done there was free
It depends on your teeth condition. If the condition isn’t severe then I think maybe would cost 2-3k? Depending where also cause in my area is pretty cheap.
