Can I obtain a marriage visa in both of my passports if I have an entry stamp in one?

Hi,

I have 2 passports. I'm planning to marry my fiancee and get a marriage visa. Is it possible to get a stamp of the marriage visa in each of my passports?

I have an Irish passport which I used to travel to Thailand. But I have gotten the marriage documents through the Norwegian embassy which is my other passport. If I can only get the marriage visa for my norwegian passport is it possible to use the entry stamp in my Irish passport for approval?

I know its a bit confusing but hope it makes sense!

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the possibility of obtaining a marriage visa in two different passports, specifically asking if they can have the visa stamped in both an Irish and Norwegian passport, given that they have used the Irish passport for entry into Thailand but have marriage documents from Norway. Responses indicate that the marriage visa can only be stamped in the passport that matches the marriage documentation, which in this case is the Norwegian passport. Additionally, it's clarified that the entry stamp must be in the passport used for entry, complicating the situation further. Ultimately, the consensus is that the user will need to enter Thailand with their Norwegian passport to receive the marriage visa.

The passport you arrive in Thailand with is the one you will use when you go somewhere that your passport is required. Such as immigration. You cannot use the other passport that does not have an entry stamp and

you can only get your non imm O based on marriage stamped into your Norwegian passport as that is your nationality and you had to supply your marriage status documents from Norway. If you enter with your Irish passport your Thailand entry stamp would be in that passport. Immigration cannot enter your non imm O visa into your Norwegian passport as it does not have an entry stamp and they cannot enter it into your Irish passport as your marriage documents are from Norway. Only option is to enter with your Norwegian passport.

I’m hoping that immigration will be able to understand the situation. If not and I can just go to Cambodia for a week and a come back and get a stamp in the Norwegian passport that might be the best option.

No, only in the passport with your entry stamp.

where were you married? I think it will all depend on whether the amphur will issue you a kor ror or not. If they will I'd say you have a good chance of getting the visa in your Irish passport.

do you think it would be possible to get the marriage visa stamped in my Irish passport even though I’ve used my Norwegian passport for the marriage process?

In a country with already a complicated bureaucracy, you managed to trip yourself up even more! 😂

I would be interested in an update on how you make out with this. 😊

Good luck! Use the Irish ☘️!
