What do I need to know about extending my Thai visa at Muang Thong Thani immigration office?

Hi All,

Going to immigration tomorrow to do my first 30 day visa extension so just want to make sure I’m prepared and don’t cock it up.

I’ve tried to make an appointment online but the website wasn’t working so my plan to show up at 8.30 when they open and just try and be the first person in the door.

I’ve arrived on a 45 day visa exemption and will get the 30 day extension. I’m in Bangkok and my understanding is that I have to go to Muang Thong Thani immigration office, could someone people confirm this.

I’m going with my passport. My TM6 Departure card and a copy of the TM 30 receipt my landlord received. And the 2000 THB to pay the fee. My understanding is that I can make the necessary photocopies and take the passport style photos at the immigration office? Is this correct?

I will fill out the TM 7 form when I am there tomorrow in person.

If anyone could let me know if I’m missing anything or have any advice for me it would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks all, have a good one! 😊

TLDR : Answer Summary

The author outlines their plan, required documents, and seeks confirmation and advice from the community. Key points include the need for photocopies and passport photos (which are available nearby but not inside the immigration office), a fee of 1,900 THB, and filling out the TM 7 form on-site. Community comments provide additional insights, confirming the location and offering tips for a smoother experience, including arriving earlier than 8:30 AM and following signs for the right services.

- I do think I've been told the correct place to go to get the extension at mtt, but are you able to show a map view of the precise place you went, or what to tell the taxi driver? We are near Nana in Bangkok. Did you just take a taxi or did you use grab taxi?

I took a grab since it was slightly cheaper however the guy had no idea where he was going and refused to listen to the gps a 35 min journey took more than an hour and a half. With grab it’s hit or miss but I’d take a taxi personally. I’ve attached a photo that I hope helps you find it. If you have the google maps app and search muang thong Thani immigration it will show you the correct place that you can then show to the taxi. When you get there it’s almost like a big compound with several buildings. Follow the signs that say 90 day extension and you’ll find the right building.

day extensions are on the 3rd floor. Hope this helps pal

8.30 will be too late you may be finish late in the afternoon. People start cuing up at 5am outside the building.

You might want to go earlier.😉😉

was very little people today. Showed up around 9am and everything went smooth. Saw very few foreigners actually mainly People from Myanmar it seemed.

They’ve split the visa extension and 90 day reporting to two separate floors so I think visa extensions are quite fast not sure about the 90 day reporting.

Update: went this morning left super early but the taxi I got was an idiot and did a huge detour so showed up around 9am but was fine not too busy honestly did the photos and photocopies by the entrance and filled out the TM7. Honestly the whole process was fine I spent more time in the taxi than I did in immigration. I wanted to do the 60 day extension but said you need to do the 30 day one first. I think just being polite to the immigration officers goes a long way even though they are very patronising. Thanks again for all the help here, appreciate it a lot!

Nice and congrats! I'm sure you have the sticker on your passport cover now. It says you can return 3 weeks before your new stamp expires. So I guess you'll be back in the office soon!

Wow they photo copy stuff ther here in nakhon sawan they turn u away if you missing a photo copy. Last time I was missing 1 copy and they turned me away
Ric *******
as of now they divide the people who extend their visas. so it is less people now than before.

Take everything you’ve got it can be copied there

I don't know if photos are done at MTT. There is a cranky lady who does photocopying, but the last time I was there (which is some months back) there was no photo facilities. Perhaps someone else who has been to MTT recently can elaborate? As far as being first in if you get there at 8.30, my previous experience is I got there at 8.00 and there was already about 10,000 people (perhaps an exaggeration, but there were a lot!) in front of me. However, you should be ok for reasonably fast turnaround at 8.30

Passport Photos and copies are done nearby not in actual immigration office. Follow the signs tell them you are doing the extension and they will copy the right pages

That is correct

>And the 2000 THB to pay the fee.
