Hi everyone,

I entered Thailand in June on a Visa exemption. The expiry date is coming up soon (August 2nd) and I'm just curious how the 30 day extension works? I've done it once before 2 years ago in Chonburi but am in Bangkok now and imagine that the process is different due to COVID, lockdown etc.

Can I just show up a few days before my exemption expires and get the extension? Or do I need to make an appointment before going? How close to the expiry date do you advise me to extend?

Also if someone could point me to the correct immigration office I need to go to in Bangkok that would be great! I know theres atleast 2 and you're supposed to go to a specific one for extensions.

Lastly, if someone could please let me know what documents I need to bring that would be amazing.

I know its a lot of questions but if someone could help me out would be great, don't want to mess it up! Thanks :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend your Visa exemption in Thailand, you can visit the local immigration office in Bangkok a few days before your exemption expires. It is common practice to extend within 45 days of your visa expiring. The specific immigration office for extensions is located in Muang Thong Thani, but note that they currently only accept 300 people a day due to COVID-19 restrictions. You do not need to make an appointment as the online system is down. Required documents include your passport, copies of relevant pages, a TM30 receipt, a passport-size photo, and a fee of 1,900 THB.

Any nationality holding a 60-day tourist visa entry or a visa exempt stamp can extend for 30 days at the local immigration office. For the extension, you just have to submit one passport-size photo (4cm x 6cm) with white background, TM6 card, TM30 receipt from your hotel, and pay the fee of 1,900 Thai baht.

You will go to Muang Thong Thani. They will only accept 300 people a day because of COVID-19. The location is

As of right now, the online appointment system is not working

You can get a new extension of stay on your visa exempt when there is 45 days or less remaining on your current stamp.

1. Your passport and:

a. a copy of your data ("picture") page

b. a copy of your most recent visa (if you have one)

c. a copy of your most recent stamp

d. a copy of your departure card

2. *MAYBE* A TM30, filed in the immigration office.

3. The forms (each immigration office may have different forms, and ant to use their special forms)

4. 2x passport pictures

5. 1,900 THB.

thanks for the info! If the site is still not working closer to when I need to extend I guess I’ll just try and call or just show up there.
