Should I be worried about my Covid extension application being under consideration at Thai Immigration?

Hey.

Went to Immigration at IT Square Lak Si today for a 60 day covid extension. They gave me an under consideration stamp and told me to return the 9th of June. Should I be worried at all? I did a covid extension before in January and they gave it to me straight away. Why do they put applications under consideration?

If they decide to stop doing the covid extensions after May 25th would that mean my application would be denied even considering I applied today and my current extension expires the 24th of May? If it is denied when I go back the 9th of June would I have to leave the country immediately?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user expressed concern about receiving an 'under consideration' stamp at the Thai Immigration office while applying for a 60-day Covid extension. Previous experiences had been straightforward, and there is uncertainty about the implications if the Covid extensions are discontinued after May 25th. Community responses indicated that being under consideration is normal, and users reassured that the visa should remain valid until the next appointment on June 9th, although advice was given to consider applying for a different visa for longer stays.

Heard this is fairly normal procedure.

Are they handing out these stamps indefinitely. I thought apart from Ukraine that most nationals can get home. I just don’t get it.
@Tod ********
can you explain
Stuart *********
@Ashley *******
The last date (currently) to apply is May 24th. Whether that date will be extended is unknown.

@Stuart ********
they keep extending it for 2 months. Wondering if it’s aligned with the emergency decree

@Ashley *******
Not sure if it’s aligned as such. Up until the last extension land borders were pretty much closed. Now a number are opened, so I’m not sure they will extend.

Why do you need another Covid extension, travel is easy to do now between countries, I would find it hard to believe you can’t travel back to your home country. Ifyou want to stay here longer, shouldn’t you be looking at the appropriate visa which will allow you to do this, just my opinion.

Thailand should be happy these farangs spend lotsa money in the country. Why would they kick them out?

you miss the point of Covid extensions. In the beginning that was the meaning. It quickly became a means to keep people in the country when very few tourists could come in. Things are approaching normal and these extensions will end 25 May

the multiple covide stamped guys will have trouble leaving and returning in future IMHO, some already have

@David ******
done that already 7 covid extensions in total left and came back after no problems at all. These are the rules

@Jo *********
others already had issues lol you must be lucky not being grilled, also with not being asked to show ongoing travel lol It really depends who you get at the airport in swampy but they are getting worse for sure.

@David ******
yes true CM airport is very reasonable

if this is one is currently on offer and he's being given it does it really effect you in any way? It's obviously the cheapest and easiest currently on offer
Rob **********
@Brett *********
no why would it effect me, I just can’t fathom how people say I can’t travel back home. I have no problem with people wanting to do this, I just said choose the appropriate visa which suits your circumstances if you want to live here on a long term basis.

@Rob *********
I often wonder the same thing with these covid extensions

@Colleen ********
yep exactly, nearly all countries are open to travel to again, makes me wonder as well🤷‍♂️

the process is as you went through, they will stamp you first for 30 days and next time stamp you again for another 30, without having to do all the paperwork. (although I didn't know that, and the 2nd time I went I still was told to fill it out, but then I didnt have to give it to anybody).

Your visa should be okay definitely until 9th June and I'd say you're likely to also get the 2nd stamp for the extra 30 days. But of course I can't really speak for the actual immigration office.
Stuart *********
It’s quite normal to get an under consideration stamp. Return on the date stamped and they’ll give you the remaining days.
