Erm.... You think now isn't a good time because there is no WiFi and the pool is closed. Could you not simply go somewhere with WiFi, or get an internet package (mine is 200 baht unlimited) and use another pool? I get it's annoying as you paid for the hotel, but not a reason to deter people from coming to Thailand....

What about the beautiful beaches with few people? Chilled atmosphere? Getting to know people better?

I'm in phi phi right now and a resort just opened their waterpark for me and my son, we paid 200 baht and the only ones here!

I feel so lucky to be able to say that I've spent the entire covid time here, what a blessing (for me) to experience Thailand as it is now.
