Can anyone recommend a agent that can open a bank account for me please?
I'm loosing the will to live with so many ropes to jump over to get a visa. You need a visa to get the bank account, need a bank account to get a visa π I got a rental agreement, I got a letter from immigration, I got my son a year's visa (he's 5) and still cannot even get them to consider opening me an account, and I take my Thai friend with me π

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat shares their struggle to open a bank account in Thailand, mentioning the circular dependency of needing a visa to open an account and vice versa. Community members recommend specific banks like Krungsri, Bangkok Bank, and Kasikornbank, as well as going directly to banks rather than using agents. They suggest bringing a Thai friend for assistance, and successful experiences are shared, indicating it's possible to open accounts even on tourist visas with the right documentation.
Shelley, do you have a stable income, do you somehow work in Thailand? Usually Kasikornbank is quite easy but certainly you have to have some amount to be put in, otherwise youβll be rejected anywhere
We opened an account easily with similar documentation to you at Krung Thai in Robinson, Phetchaburi. This was only a few months ago. No problems at all.
I open bank account today was easy. Went immigration and got a letter of residence and guarantee from immigration about my residency. When to Bangkok bank and open
Walk into Bangkok Bank branches until one of them let you open an account. It all depends on if the staff is used to foreigners or not. It is not a technical or visa issue, it just depends on the willingness of the staff at the branch.
Or move to Cambodia and make life a loooooot easier. Things are so much better over there for expats.
You shouldn't need any agents. But do go with an articulate Thai person to speak for you. I've opened 2 bank accounts (with visa debit card) whilst on 30 day visa exemptions.
well, I went with my partner. I have no idea what was said to be honest. I just kept being handed papers to sign or fill in. Whatever it was, it worked.
I had exactly the same problem,my help was my landlord and she went with me to the bank thatβs how I was getting a account, itβs worth to try though , ( Krungsri)
