What are the cheapest ways to send money from the UK to a Thai bank account for visa purposes?

I looked into them before and it was nearly a third of what I was sending. Unless I was doing something. What's your experience with them?

I just used transferwise the once in April, did seem like a ball-ache to me. Competitive. I have a Revolute Card and also a Starling for back up, it’s not been used yet. Resolute gets the business as it worked on first go. It was worryingly easy to use at first, now they updated the app, it’s lost all my banking details, and I need to do a bank transfer each time, it’s instant though. But you pay nothing for cash withdrawals, which I why I use it. So it’s free to add money to it from many sources, I have my main bank account linked, And a few credit cards for back up. When I need some cash I do a bank transfer via the app, takes seconds, then hit the ATM. Still get charged 220 at the ATM though so I try to do the larger 25,000 limit ATMs. There is a paying IN limit of £250 a day, so if you need more or spend a bit. Just stick on £250 everyday. Not sure it can be automated. It works for my situation. But soon my rent will need to go into Thai account, not UK as it does currently, so that’s £1500 a month I need to get over here 😂

I had stopped looking to be honest, so 8% back four weeks is nice. If we could get to 25-30% better value, I’d dive straight head first into a villa purchase, 4x4, jetski’s the lot. Elite Visa perhaps.

I’ll be coming to udon Thani very soon. weeks maybe. Never been that part of town. Always shunned it as a single man traveling. So you can guess what brings me there now. But what did we come to Thailand for anyway ? So I’m looking forward to it. I am genuinely worried about being shown a sick buffalo though. And yes I’ve been blessed, but I’ve worked hard and smart. And you only live once. And You can’t take it with you. But I’d give it all away if could give my mum and dad just one more year together on this earth 🙏

Was actually gonna drive. Stop in Bkk for a night or two. Got access to a nice condo there. I just can’t tell her it’s my ex girlfriends 😂

Never done the drive from surat Thani to bkk, not expecting much, and then never gone out of that end of Bangkok, but I’m expecting a bit more. I have a friend in khon kaen I should visit also.

I worked hard too, but I liked working, most of it was a joy. 2008 didn't do me any favours, then I've had 10 years here too. Been an experience I'll never forget, been fortunate. there are better options if your into the cash back game. The points guy keeps pretty good track of what the current best deal is for that.

Better cash back exists but an extra 1% won't help if there is a 3% markup on the exchange rate. Are you saying there is a better card also with no markup? That data isn't on the points guy site and the first couple cards he recommends have the 3% markup.

I am with 2 UK banks and both rip me off. I think all UK banks are there to rip people off . Its not just about the exchange rate it's the overall transfer that is important. Barclays for example crucify you and so do all the others. I have a Sabadell account in Spain and a Millenium in Portugal. They all give very poor rates. Stay away from banks.

Yes for sure cheaper than going direct to a bank wire transfer. I do think they are still using bank wire transfer but I would guess get a much better rate than a single individual and of course you do not need to wait in line at the bank. Have you tried coating to TransferWise? TransferWise has a whole different business plan which effectively creates internation transfers while only actually doing in country transfers this keeping costs lower. It would take me far too long to explain how they do it using my phone but there is info available via web search
