In CM, actually they want the TM30 in lieu of Rental Contract, as "proof' of your residency (and, proof of your compliance with TM30 requirement).

CM will NOT accept Screenshot of TM30. Instead, they will tell you to go to back at TM30 Office, and "convert" to actual hard-copy Slip Receipt. No big deal, but sometimes very long wait time. Figure that in, and don't wait until last minute to apply for Extension.

Hard to believe you have never encountered a Police Stop, and cited for no Thai License. You must live in the middle of nowhere. FYI -- You also will have no insurance coverage without a Thai License (whether you pay for it or not). And, in the event of an accident --- especially if someone is seriously injured or killed, you will be prosecuted criminally.
