Chiang Mai has a lot of international schools. There are enough that they have their own sports leauge for several sports. The prices tend to be a lot better than Bangkok or Phuket, though, while still being a high quality education.

Wow. Next to that Chiang Mai seems like a breeze. Fresh copy of Khor Ror 2? Yikes. I'm still getting an agent when renewing this month, though, to avoid the seemingly endless supply of new things needed (and hence multiple trips or even days wasted).

I registered marriage before our child was born because I was concerned about parental rights but I'm also under 50. As I understand it, being married isn't necessary but makes it easier. It seems it may not be relevant if the kids are not recently born.

This suggests that a land border crossing through Cambodia would be possible in June provided the other requirements (insurance, embassy cert, recent test, quarantine, etc.) are met. Can anyone confirm?

"The fifth group are foreigners either with work permits or who are permitted to take up work permits." So, work permit holders and any visa that allows a work permit, such as Thai spouse?

"This may be an option for those that do but who cannot access Thailand because of the passenger flight ban but meet the other criteria under the emergency decree."

Her visa and work permit won't be valid if she stops working for xyz.

She would need to start a company or be employed by one.

I have had good experiences with AssistThai.

I see you are in Chiang Mai expat groups so, if you are talking domestic travel from Chiang Mai, I recently read that there are something like 2 flights a day at the moment from CNX. Perhaps that was just with one airline. Still, please guage your need to do so appropriately and don't travel without serious need to do so. There is also always the chance that returning to Chiang Mai won't be so easy.

This is from a volunteer at Chiang Mai immigration who posted about this and other current visa issues...

"People transitioning visas...if you have a cancellation letter, proceed directly to counter three, cancel your visa, them IMMEDIATELY apply for the 7-day extension outside to qualify for the tourist visa 30-day extension no matter what country you are from. You will be provided an opportunity to apply for the extension even if your country doesn't issue extension letters.

If you recently quit your job and DO NOT YET have a cancellation letter from your company/school, GET THAT FIRST before you come to immigration! They cannot / will not cancel your visa to get you on the tourist visa until they get that letter from your old employer."
