You have to pay attention to this one:

Cindy teaches at xyz school in Thailand.

Cindy is stuck in her home country because of covid.

Her visa & work permit will still be valid when she comes back.

Question:

If I want to hire her once she gets back as my child’s personal teacher/nanny, where she does not teach at xyz school anymore, how the hell does that work?

How to nanny type people get visas and work permits? I am a foreigner on a non B hiring a foreigner.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the legal challenges of hiring a foreigner as a nanny in Thailand. The main points are that the individual, Cindy, cannot legally work as a nanny as it would be outside the scope of her existing visa and work permit linked to her employment at xyz school. To hire Cindy, the employer must be eligible to employ her legally, which typically requires owning a company and employing a certain number of Thai workers. Alternatives include employing her through a school or possibly providing payment as a gift to avoid the legal complexities of a work visa.

Legally it won't happen. The only way she'd be able to be working legally is if you contract her through a school or language center . A school would hire her and you pay the school.

Kenya is in the same lowest minimum salary work permit band as Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia for what it's worth. Domestic work I think is outside this though, it's possible that those three neighboring countries have possibilities here that a Kenyan would not.

she’s from Kenya. I live in a small town and I know the schools well.

usually maids, nannies are Burmese. There is a guest worker category for them, but if westerners were allowed to do it there is a prohibitive high minimum wage by nationality. There are agencies that recruit teachers for schools. Possibly one of them might sort a deal with a school to hire yiur teacher for you. Be careful not to get scammed though.

sorry to hear that, apologies for how i came accross, what I am saying though is to be a nanny is a Thai only job I believe, work visas are assigned to the company that gave you it as far as I know too, if your a foriegner and she is, why not just pay her via transfer wise or even cash as a 'gift' thus cutting out the need for a work visa, no problem giving a gift and if shes 'helping you out' for that gift thats fine too

Short answer to the story is

"Cindy" is gonna NOT be able to be a nanny legally in thailand for you.

You are not in the position to employ her :(

Her visa and work permit won't be valid if she stops working for xyz.

She would need to start a company or be employed by one.

Very difficult. You have to be eligible to employ her. Similar to having your own company
