I didn’t want to make that claim without factual knowledge but good to know!
Personally I feel that taxi drivers in Bangkok have improved since the competition introduced through ride-hail apps ie Grab. I find myself going straight to book a ride from Grab and never thinking to flag down a taxi in the last 3 years.
Everyone has surely had their share of taxi horror stories but I sincerely feel that those are just black sheep in the industry that shouldn’t be used to judge on a whole.
I find it most important to have empathy when taking taxi, if your journey takes much longer than usual due to traffic condition and the driver still maintains a pleasant disposition, give the driver a tip, time is their opportunity cost. We all have difference financial ability but 20-50thb shouldn’t cause a huge dent on your finances so give a good driver a little something for his effort.
You can then organize through power of attorney to get an extension.
The longer you wait the more you have to pay in overstay fines.
Do you have any thai friends? They would be able to call immigration up on your behalf to understand what is needed to get the documents required in place.
This just happened to me, so this is first hand Knowledge.
However the duration of extension you can get is completely up to the immigration officer. I went to the immigration office in Samut Prakan.
I can do to get PCR test or hospital verification that I am Covid positive and try to ask them to do extension on my behalf?
I just got off the line w thai Covid hotline and they said ATK home test kit results are accepted by immigration 🤷🏻♂️ and I should call immigration on Monday.
I’m going to contact a hospital closest to me and see what’s their recommendation
If on Visa Exempt, what about getting a regular extension first and sort put the marriage Visa then? The 30 days or 60 days family visit one? Even Covid-Extension?
