direct train ride directly to Butterworth... Most people really enjoy Penang. It's got loads of fun restaurants and has one of the best foodie scenes in Asia.

There's a ferry to get to Penang from the mainland as well as bridges. The ferry loading dock is directly across from the Butterworth train station. Burma land borders are closed.

You have 3 months to activate your visa.... Activation is done by passing through immigration and having your passport stamped. From that moment, you can be physically present in Thailand but must exit the country within the number of days allowed by your visa. For example, a single entry tourist visa has a activation validity of 90 days and an in country presence validity of 60 days.
