Hello, does anyone have the latest info concerning the process to obtain a tourist visa in Hanoi? I was thinking of applying for one this week and was checking the requirements on their website. It doesn't list the (rather silly) proof of lodging which is normally asked a some other consulates. Also, it says proof of travel TO Thailand. I'll be travelling by bicycle from Cambodia but will be flying out. Is this a really strict requirement? In regards to lodging, what's the normal thing to do? I will be biking and have no idea where I'll be staying.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks updated information on the tourist visa application process in Hanoi, specifically regarding the proof of lodging and proof of onward travel requirements for entering Thailand. Comments suggest that proof of onward ticket is often asked, but other strict requirements like bank statements may not be necessary.

I did mine through Scoot Airlines online for Ho Chi Min City (SGN) really easy. They didn't ask for anything other than Passport Cover Page and new passport photo scan.

If I understand correctly Hanoi only ask sometime for Proof of onward ticket and to write down where u live in Thailand, but no 20k baht bank statement. Anyone can confirm this.

I think you need the bank statement. I just handed over everything myself.

Garrett yeah the horns can be annoying, but on the other hand it’s far better practice than the never-use-a-horn Thai style. I love the acceptance of my inner hippie too, don’t tell our Indian mate though 🙈

100%. I’ve a mate living there and he absolutely loves it. It’s far more laid back, cheaper and better weather. The heat really gets to me 🙃
