Honestly, if you quality for a better visa I’d stick with that.

They will question why you want to change from a non-imm to a tourist visa.

But there is technically nothing stopping you from applying, and if they believe you are now a long term tourist you could be fine.

It’s more likely fine than not, and there is many reports from people doing it and being fine.
