we had Non O's that were approved but had not entered Thailand yet. We contacted the Thai consulate in Vancouver about the DTV. They told us we couldn't have two visas but if the DTV was approved, they'd cancel the existing Non O.
yes, it's very new and rules are being made up and changed as people adapt and it seems like embassies are tightening up already.
In the case of the DTV, the primary has to apply and have the visa approved before the dependant can apply. As a dependant you require proof of primary DVT, proof or relationship and proof of funds. Again, Vancouver consulate so it could very well be different elsewhere.
I know when we did Non O's every embassy had a slightly different requirement but don't recall it being so varied! I'll take it though, my husband DTV was approved in 2 hours and mine only took 36.
we just did ours, also Vancouver consulate and dependant DTV. Had to show my bank statement in my name. Edit: if joint account there has to be enough to cover all applicants.
I am submitting a statement in my name. If a joint account it has to show enought $$ to cover all. That's for a spouse dependant DTV. Every consulate has different requirements so it comes down to where you are applying. This is Vancouver consulate.
Thanks all, sounds like we are trying to get the best of both without any risk. We'll contact our consulate and get their input on what is the best option.
technically, by applying to a country where you are not currently located, you are violating the terms and conditions of the e-visa system because you are providing false information. Previously they could request proof of flights from the e-visa country into Thailand and had declined visas when it didn't match up. How they would track that or what would trigger them to investigate, no idea but I personally wouldn't risk losing the visa fee.
there is some fine print about falsifying info on the e-visa application that violates terms and conditions. Stating you are in the US when applying, when you are actually elsewhere would probably be considered false information. That said, no idea how they would track that.
In the past some consulates had requested the actual booking document from where you say you are to Thailand. The German consulate used to allow citizens to apply from anywhere. With all the changes who knows what they accept and how they would monitor it.
