Do you intend visiting Australia every 18-24 months? If so the OA is by far the best option

Seema Devgan. Considering you cannot work on a retirement visa, and therefore not generate income within the country, I think it would be highly unlikely. You'd have to speak to a Thai financial advisor to get the correct answer

George Farmer. I'm saying a large chunk of the covid extenders could, if they wanted to, get a proper visa, such as those who are married or have Thai kids, or wish to study. The problem is they are not prepared to stump up the required funds in order to obtain the correct visa. A married visa requires only 400k in the bank or an income of 40k/month. This is not a fortune, so again, if I label someone trying to bypass this requirement a "cheap charlie" I do think it's justified. As far as extending time in Thailand, you do what you would in most countries of the world, get a visa which fits the reason for being in the country. Surely that's not too difficult to work out?

Paul Weinhardt. It's the question I've asked. I cannot understand why people don't get a proper visa. If you're married or have a Thai kid, it's so easy.

Doug Zinnarro. Why should they stay in their own country when they're cashed up enough to come to Thailand and get a tidy firm young bride? He's saved his money and wants to see out the rest of his life with happiness. And being so cashed-up he's a bonus to the Thai economy. You won't see the Thai government kicking any of these cashflow resources out of the country! 😆😆😆

Martin Castro. Exactly! Who are you to say? The cashed-up 75 year old will comfortably support his 18 year old bride, their two kids, her sisters and her mother. They will have a dream lifestyle and in turn will take care of their meal ticket, tending to his every need. You won't see him queueing at 7-11 for a ham and cheese toastie, and asking around where the best free WiFi is. He is a plus to the economy. 🤣🤣🤣.
