I guess it depends if people want to just kick back and enjoy living in Thailand without the need to travel to other countries and race to borders every couple of months and be continually visiting immigration offices. It seems a very risky strategy too, not knowing if airport immigration might decide you've had too long on tourist visas and you should be getting a proper visa which suits your situation. This has been known to happen before. Perhaps some people enjoy going out/in continuously. It would never suit me as I prefer my life to be more relaxed, but each to their own!
Josef Gamper. Depends how intelligent you are as to how easy it is to study. If you're looking for long-term you can do a university degree. Short term you can learn Thai. But the visa is 90-days which can be extended each 90-days, but immigration will test you at each extension to see how well you're progressing before allowing further extension. Maximum is one year. Otherwise Muay Thai is very popular.
STV finishes in September. In view of the ease of travel now around the world, it may no longer be offered. You can work, study, marry or buy a five year Elite Visa.
Thea Verni. With Thai language you get a 90-day visa, which can be extended provided you pass the interview, where you are tested on your language skills. This is done twice more, also at 90-day intervals. You get only 12 months to learn the language. I'm not aware if you can then get another 4 x 90 to learn something else. Perhaps Muay Thai you can
