Do children (younger than 15) of ED visa holders get Non-O visa? Is that a good way to stay long-term? Is it possible to apply/extend ED visa without leaving Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry concerns the eligibility of children under 15 years old holding an ED visa for obtaining a Non-O visa. It also questions whether this is a viable long-term stay option and if it is possible to apply for or extend an ED visa without leaving Thailand. A comment suggests that the ED visa's maximum duration is 12 months, questioning its effectiveness as a long-term stay solution.

I believe ED visa is maximum twelve months (4 x 90) unless doing a university degree. Would you consider that longstay?

Thank you! I am not sure either, thats why I asked. There are many languages you can learn. Also there's Thai cooking, massage, Thai culture and so on. I read that there is even a certified diving course... Otherwise we will have to get a work visa. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Thea Verni. With Thai language you get a 90-day visa, which can be extended provided you pass the interview, where you are tested on your language skills. This is done twice more, also at 90-day intervals. You get only 12 months to learn the language. I'm not aware if you can then get another 4 x 90 to learn something else. Perhaps Muay Thai you can

many people get the education visa and don’t learn anything. Thai government is now testing to see if the visa holders are learning Thai or just partying.
