Hopefully not, but the concern is that without proof of residency the responsible consulate for issuing the visa may argue that they don’t have jurisdiction. Only time will tell, unless
@Tommy *******
can get us a clear answer on the address question.

Most maybe. But what about circus artists, ship crew, members of certain nomadic tribes… there is a bunch of people who do not share a “conventional” lifestyle and still should have the right to apply for a visa. Did you know that many people in Indonesia only have one name for example? The rule for visas or passport issue is, that you need a first and last name. So for this purpose, their first name on the documents is FNU, which is an abbreviation for “first name unknown”. There should be a similar workaround for individuals without an address without stigmatizing them.

no, true nomads don’t have an address, that’s what characterizes nomadic lifestyle.

1) Some embassies require a “proof of residency” to see if they are the responsible authority to issue the visa. How do true digital nomads proof residency anywhere without an address?

2) If applying for one of the “soft powers”: is it sufficient to book a one day or one week cooking class, or when applying for medical, is it sufficient to book a one day check up at a hospital to be granted the visa for five years? It sounds too good to be true. Will the reason for being granted (e.g. medical) be printed on the visa and do you need to book a cooking class or a medical appointment every entry? Will someone check at the border?

3) if applying for “music festival”, does this mean as a member of the audience who wants to visit and watch or is it for artists who plan to perform at this event? If it applies to musicians, are they allowed to get paid by the festival organizer?

4) can ship crew members apply as “freelancers”, if they work for different cruise lines and their vessels operate and are registered outside Thailand? Crew member could work onboard for 5-9 months and then travel to Thailand for 2-6 months vacation before returning back to sea.

Thanks for your efforts,
@Tommy *******
, I know these questions are very specific but clarification would be much appreciated.

It is really difficult to proof residency, if you are a true digital nomad. Since this kind of visa was made with nomads in mind, hopefully there will be a way around it.

are you applying for the new DTV or is this for a different kind of visa, if you don’t mind sharing?
