Edit: no need for unhelpful comments. After years of living in Thailand I understand everything is not always translated properly. It could also mean the country your in.

I need a police clearance letter. I have the forms. Just want to know if I can get my prints in a police station any country or has to be my country (UK). The UK embassy can't advice me. I am not in The UK now.

I have a question regarding the Kakaesque nightmare that is applying for a police clearance check in Thailand from abroad.

I've got two sets of fingerprints made, and filled out the forms except the Testimony Memorandum where it says 'I testify that .... '

Anyone have any clue what it is I'm supposed to testify? That I haven't committed any crimes? That the fingerprints I've had made are mine? I can find no guidance anywhere about this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am in the process of applying for O-A visa from Canada. One of the requirement is a "Certificate of criminal record clearance from the country of nationality". Is this something I can get online?

What is coming in the near future in our obtaining a Thai Visa worldwide?

Currently, the Royal Thai Embassy in Paris, London and Beijing, as well as some Thai consulates in China, use E-Visa.

If all goes well, the ultimate goal is for all Thai diplomatic missions to introduce the electronic visa."

I post this as an alert to all of what apparently may be coming in the near future in obtaining any Thai visa.

The E-Visa system along with Thai Consulates and Embassy's will have immediate electronic access to ones personal history in Thailand...just as the Royal Thai Police now do as you approach a Thai Immigration Officer.

And the E-Visa system essentially will be making the decision to approve or not approve a visa application. The Consulates/Embassy locations will review collected documents submitted online and issue the visa in your passport.

This is along with facial recognition technology and fingerprinting now in use as we enter and depart Thailand.

I think the E-Visa may impact most those who have used for years the "new/lost passport" trick along with various kinds of visas ...Tourist, Ed and border runs...visa exempt entries with extensions...visas obtained from most all Thai Consulates in SE Asia...and within reach elsewhere by land or air... In order to get visas to visit, live and work in Thailand.

IMHO ...For some, it may be time to prepare a Plan B and to think about your future options....and getting the correct visa for your stay in Thailand is one.

I will be arriving on Wed. and want to know if anyone has gone through immigration since they start to finger print everyone.

How good or bad are the lines at the Suvarnabhumi Airport. I will be coming in around 11:00 am.

Just a quick update.

My sister and niece arrived at Suvarnabumhi on Friday afternoon. Irish passports first time in Thailand.

Immigration took about 20 minutes in a queue. They were digitally finger and thumb printed and photographed.

Not asked for 20000 baht in cash

Not asked for proof of hotel booking

Not asked for onward flight ticket.

Stamped in for 30 days.

Never heard of anyone being fingerprinted before. Is this new?

Vincent Forrester asked by PM, after I closed his question about needed finger prints for Visa application:

Fingerprints are required to get Non-O and other visas nowadays.. even though it's not mentioned or compulsory for some countries.

They rejected my Non-O today even though I had a recent Police Clearance from my previous university.

Today the officer told me that I had until monday to get it or I won't get my Non-O.. which doesn't make sense as you can't normally get it in a few days.

Would you kindly enable the comments for a few hours until i get a few advice or contacts.. thanks.

You've been here long enough to know that requirements are not always mentioned and differ from what the Thai Immigration requests.

Is there any way to get my fingerprints from the Royal Thai Police before or on Monday?

For the Thai police record, I have heard to do it in any police station.

For the French police record, does anybody know where I can do it?

Anyone got any idea what this green stamp means? Turned up in the girlfriends Thai passport on arrival on the 2nd and had to go to the headmistress office upon leaving. No questions asked, just some scrutiny. Thanks.
