Is it legal to open a bank account while on DTV Visa.? If my remote employer pays in that bank account after withholding taxes (which I am ok with) would that be a problem?

Am I missing something here . Thailand requires me to deposit 800,000 baht into a Thai bank account to get my retirement visa. After 180 days they can then tax my 800,000.

UK national married to Thai.

wishing for some advice on which way to go initially …Tourist visa, Retirement or Marriage visa? I/we intend to reside in Thailand for just short of 6 months with a view to becoming more permanent later. Of course I would rather spend less time dealing with acquisition of visas as I come and go (staying longer later) mindful too of tax status.

What are my best most sensible options to consider if I have provided you enough info.

P.s seasoning of any funds is no issue as I have an existing primed bank account

Not sure if this is the right page, but i wanted to ask if there is anyone on here who owns a condo here on koh Samui. We are looking to possibly buy one at the Bay Condominiums near Bangrak, and have a few questions regarding how much we can expect to rent it out at and taxes both here and in Australia that are not being answered well enough by the realestate companies.

If anyone can help that would be great.

Hello! I haven't seen this question posted anywhere else—

My husband and I are both US citizens and work for companies in the US. I recently received my DTV, and he is looking to apply as my *dependent* (rather than get his own visa — he's allowed to work remotely from Thailand, but his contract doesn't say it).

Please don't respond with comments about how he should get an updated contract that states it; we know :)

Given that we'll be in Thailand for more than 180 days (tax residents), does anyone know what the tax implications/requirements are for him, since he'd be working? Are dependents allowed to work and file taxes in Thailand, or is the dependent visa only for spouses who AREN'T earning an income?

Thank you!

Hello everyone, so if I’m renting my villa out in Thailand on Airbnb short term rentals, of course this is no problem while on a dtv right ? As long as I’m not working in the home cleaning, welcoming guests into the property ect?

Hi Guys

I am already holding DTV visa

But i am checking the news that LTR visa is getting easy.

Does anyone know if we get LTR visa straight for 10 years or its renewable after 5 years?

And for DTV there is no taxes.

But for do we have taxes?

Trying to find out if LTR is better then DTV.

So please suggest and give your inputs 🙏🙏

I’m looking to apply for a DTV in the next couple of months from the UK - currently in Thailand on a 60 day tourist visa .. going back end of next month .

I own a business in the UK which I can mostly run remotely (it’s an IT business with employees in the UK

Regarding the tax situation with a 180 day DTV .. I take it you can only spend up to 180 days in Thailand in any tax year (12 months)… so realistically I could not spend 180 days in Thailand , fly home for a month, then come back out for another 180 days without the Thai tax implications?

I’ve seen varying suggestions regarding the DTV but if anyone could confirm it I would greatly appreciate it

Many thanks 🙏🏻

Have you heard anything about the fact that if you are an employee, the company you work for remotely from Thailand should pay social security contributions to Thailand?
