I am pretty certain a French citizen can apply from France. Go on prove it wrong. I am a Thai resident. Before that Singapore and Belgium. Not been a UK resident since 2002 but I can apply in the UK for a DTV as a British passport holder.

Each embassy can set conditions locally and it looks like UAE want a local bank account. You can transfer and wait. Go back to Frsnce and apply there or apply in a country in South East Asia. Those seem to be the choices available.

Anonymous participant It is just a matter of learning the local quirks 🙂 I knew Jomtien as dealt with it a while and loads of people talk about it if anything changes. In Bangkok I was BOI and company office admin did everything for us. I was lucky when I moved to Chiang Mai. My property agent has a good pal in immigration and asked her advice on all of my questions. The agent for the owner also updates TM30 as soon as you inform them. Most of her owners are Chinese out of the country so she does it for all of them.

Anonymous participant The problem though is no consistency between Immigration Offices (Like with many things). Some want a new TM30 if you have travelled overseas and returned to same address while others do not. For me the Property Agent should know if they are dealing with foreigners and offer the updating service as part of their whole package.
