Can I apply for a Thailand DTV visa immediately after receiving funds in my account, and do I need to be in the UK to apply?

UPDATE for clarity please — To add - I have over 500k across the 3 months statements going in and out, in addition to the 500k that will be in the end balance I submit. Will this be ok?

Looking for some advice - I have the 500k going into my personal current account this week from a family member and I will be applying via London embassy. Two questions:

1. I’ve heard reports of requests for the 500k being in your bank for 3 months, is this true or can I apply as soon as the money is in my account?

2. I will apply in UK as per advice in comments!

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice regarding the requirement of maintaining 500,000 THB in their bank account for a specific period before applying for a Thai DTV visa via the London embassy. They have a family member transferring the funds into their personal account and are uncertain if they can apply immediately after the deposit or if they must wait for the funds to be seasoned for three months. Several commenters share their experiences, indicating that applications have been approved without requiring the 500k to be seasoned for three months, with exceptions made in the London embassy, suggesting that local practices may vary.

Try calling the London Embassy to get clarification

it was ok for me. Approved in 48 hours

Must be in your account for 3 months since you need to show your bank account with your name on it and 3 months statements, thus you must show statements from April May June.

You apply on their online portal

@Don ******
so is the requirement to show 3 months of statements & have it in your current balance, or you need it showing to have sat in your account for 3 months in those statements as a requirement ? thanks :)
Don *******
@Molly *******
well my interpretation of it was it has to be in your account for 3 months, but we got other people here saying it just needs to be there on a statement.

other people have been accepted without 3 months?

@Tara *********
it’s a requirement that you show bank statements from the past 3 months. How you get away with that, I don’t know. I submitted from 2 different bank accounts as the first one had my name in Chinese, thus they couldn’t confirm it was me (I didn’t even notice that till I double checked)

@Don ******
you have to show the bank statements for the previous 3 months at the London embassy. The final 500,000 closing balance can (as of a couple of weeks ago) arrive in your account on the same day you apply. This is what I did
Don *******
@Ray ****
it says to maintain an amount of 500K thb in the account for 3 months.

Not sure why people go to the embassy - I applied online and never showed up in person till I set my foot in BKK.
Ray *****
@Don ******
that is not the actual wording. And a final balance was accepted

@Ray ****
Financial evidence: an amount of no less than 500,000 THB (e.g., bank statements for the last three months, sponsorship letter).

So just show 500,000 for the last statement? Right ok.

@Don ******
that's what I did in London. Different embassies have different requirements but London want to see final balance and the previous 3 months statements

You have to be in the country where you are going to pick up the DTV.

To apply in the UK you must physically be there and also be a permanent resident.

Anonymous participant 448 What do you mean by "Permanent Resident" - it is not a term used in the UK. Anyone equating PR in another country like Thailand or Singapore, equate it to "ILR (Indefinate Leave to Remain)" status. Do you mean you can only apply in UK if you are currently living there?

@Greg *******
It is a term used by the London Embassy and was the response I got when asking if I could apply on July 9th. "Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your email.

We accept visa applications for all passport holders who are permanent residents and currently located in the UK/Ireland.

Warmest regards,

The Visa Team"

Anonymous participant 448 No idea what they mean by that. I know British guys who are Thai residents but got DTV in UK. If it mean non-British passport holders applying in UK would they have to be ILR? There is a Brit posts in this group who works at Thai Embassy London. They would know better. I have never heard anyone referred to as PR in UK though.

Do it when you’re in the UK. I’ve just done mine and it took 6 days (that includes a weekend as well)

You can apply anywhere that most convenient to you, any Country that has a Thai embassy/consulate. Obviously you cannot apply from within Thailand

500k ideally in the account for a month of two, most important will be the most recent balance that must be a minimum of 500k THB or equivalent in a personal/savings account.

London is pretty relaxed on seasoned funds and also quite quick recently. We did 2 in London last week, 5 and 7 days

I got approved w/ London embassy without seasoning. Sent funds from company to personal and applied the next day. Good luck!

May be helpful to you...

I put my funds in in the morning of my application and gave 3 months of statements as requested. I did mine in UK and all approved

You can only apply in the UK if you are physically in the UK. You can only apply via Greece if you are physically in Greece (or several of the allowed surrounding countries) and have residency there. You might want to cancel Greece and give enough time in the UK
Andi ***********
There have been recent London approvals with non-seasoned 500K.
John **********
You can only apply in Greece if you have a Greek residence permit and living in Greece

@John *********
So if you live in any country other than your own, you need to have a recidency permit of said country and be living in said country?
Don *******
@George ******
I had to prove that I had residency in HK (which I do), but you can apply from the moon if need be (on their online portal)

@George ******
the requirements differ between embassies
Greg ********
You are meant to be in UK when you apply to the UK Embassy.
