What should I do if my Thai DTV visa application requires a UAE bank statement but I only have funds in a French account?

Hello, French citizen, UAE resident who applied for DTV Thailand as remote worker. I have the sufficient fund in my French account and provided statement but the authorities came back with the following requirement : “Please upload your personal Bank Statement in UAE with a minimum amount no less than THB 500,000 within the last 3 months and ensure it is updated until July 2025.” What are my options as sending the fund to UAE would still not meet the requirement of 3 months.

I thought that the funds were linked to the individual not the country of application.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A French citizen and UAE resident applied for the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) for Thailand but is facing challenges due to a requirement for a UAE bank statement showing a minimum of THB 500,000. Given that their funds are in a French bank, they are exploring options to meet this requirement, considering sending money to a UAE account or addressing the request with the consulate. Community advice suggests clarifying the requirements with the UAE consulate, potentially providing both UAE and French bank statements, or transferring funds to a UAE bank while explaining the situation. Other users shared their experiences with similar requirements, emphasizing local banking prerequisites.

I think that confirm some of your comment, I received the following “Right now you are not qualified for applying any type of Thailand visa unless you can submit bank account in UAE ONLY to support the previous account to show financial stability and proof of residence.”

I submitted my uae account statements with my French account statements and let see hopefully that time it works.

I just applied from Dubai and was approved and used part UAE and part UK bank Account. Do you have a UAE account if so send both statements and send a cover letter explaining you have funds in France and Dubai. Happy to help with Dubai as they seem very strict. Also they asked for all the bank statement on another day for the current balance and mine was approved the next day.

Transfer money to UAE and merge the transfer paper from french account to UAE account and merge pdf file explain you old this money since 3month in your french account and you just transfer it to uAE bank account because they request it

Did you show them the current conversion rate from Euro to UAE dirham?

I've applied in the UAE and I needed a UAE account so I got a online one. My money showing over 1 million baht is in a UK savings account.

They asked for a statement from the UAE account even though there isn't anything in it. They just needed the statement apparently.

Dubai wants only ADCB Mashreq NBD, not foreign banks. Not sure about abu dhabi. Try to send funds to your uae bank and apply anyway, before the consulate did not request the funds to be in account for 3 months.

I just used my UK and UAE accounts amalgamated, also they wanted 6 months statement from me to see proof of funds.

Each embassy can set conditions locally and it looks like UAE want a local bank account. You can transfer and wait. Go back to Frsnce and apply there or apply in a country in South East Asia. Those seem to be the choices available.

I don't think applying from France is an option for the OP. One needs to be a resident to be able to apply from France. The OP's employment documents will likely demonstrate that they're resident in the UAE.

I am pretty certain a French citizen can apply from France. Go on prove it wrong. I am a Thai resident. Before that Singapore and Belgium. Not been a UK resident since 2002 but I can apply in the UK for a DTV as a British passport holder.

The UK has different rules, I guess. I see nothing surprising here. As I told you, in France and Germany, citizenship is not enough.

@Greg *******
And by the way it's the same in Germany. Having a German passport is not enough. One needs a "Meldebestätigung" too, which is basically a certificate that one's registered as a resident in Germany.

Strange that a citizen cannot apply in their own country.

Here for Germany:

"einschließlich der Meldebestätigung in Deutschland", this could not be clearer.

Les pièces à fournir en ligne :

"Justificatif de domicile en France" = Proof of residence in France

You would need to clarify with the consulate in the UAE. It sounds like they expect UAE residents to have a UAE bank account
