Depends. If you are in a small village in Surin and never leave the village a bicycle may be enough. If you only go to nearby villages and occasionally to the nearest brick and concrete town then a scooter(motorbike) may be enough. If you go to the city or a big supermarket regularly then get your own car. Even in the city of Surin I have not seen any real taxis or regular bus routes like in Bangkok so when you need a car anywhere in Surin you will probably have to ask a neighbor for help as there isn’t alot of public transportation like Bangkok where you don’t need your own car at all.
Yes, its free. When you see the booths with immigration officers to stamp you in to the country its the lane All the way to the right is the lane for first class, disabled, and over 70+. Its pretty fast and don’t have to wait long or walk alot
On the grab app from bangkok to surin it comes out around 4000 the cheapest and 6-8000 for a bigger van. Of course you aren’t going to get anyone on the grab app to accept in real life, but gives a good idea of how much you can expect to pay a transportation company.
If you want the one year multiple entry your wife should go together with you to apply in savannakhet or they may use that excuse and only offer you a single entry.
By the way the 400k in the bank they ask for in savannakhet is only if you are applying for a one year multiple entry non O visa. If you only want a single entry 90 day non O visa then you dont have to show any proof of funds just proof you are married.
I got married officially like a few days before my tourist exempt was going to expire. Then i went and asked for the 60 day extension they told me take a 30 day extension for tourism first (added to the expiration date) then i went back a week before that was going to expire and they gave me the 60 day visiting family extension (added from the date of application). This was maybe 3 months ago. I am sure you can get your extensions. I have never heard any rule about needing to be married 60 days first.
i got married while on a 30 day exemption entry. They told me first get a 30 day extension for tourism then come back and they will give me the 60 days extension for being married. There was no rule about being married 60 days first And i did this recently. I had probably only been married like 3 weeks when I got the 60 day extension. And yes they ask for proof of funds in savannakhet. It doesn’t matter if its in a foreign bank. I showed them print outs of my bank statements from the US.
In general the people that complain about Thais, are the ones that hang out at tourist traps and make relationships with girls they met at hooker bars and massage parlors (for real, what did they expect was going to happen?). Most people who deal with normal Thais, are going to have a good impression of them.
