Koh Kong Cambodia border run…

1. Bring roughly $5000b in 100 and 50 notes. USD currency also welcome in Cambodia, plastic credit cards not accepted. If plannng on shopping, prices slightly higher than in Thailand. Dinner for two was 52,000riel, $13USD

2. Parking available behind shops just before border, 200b per day. It is extremely difficult to bring a car into Cambodia, do the research if that’s your intent.

3. Ignore the immigration lot lizards offering to do your paperwork, fill out one form yourself.

4. 1400b for USA citizens for 30 day Cambodia Visa, 200b from Thai citizen.

5. Koh Kong Resort is visible from immigration, beautiful 4 star resort, unfortunately not serving any food.

6. Tuk-tuk to Koh Kong City is 400b, preferably in 100b notes or your change will be in Cambodian Riel.

7. Koh Kong Hotel was decent, 750b per night, many restaurants within walking distance.

8. 400b back to border, again ignore the lot lizards, fill out your own paperwork, passing through Thai immigration was very easy.

9. The drive to the border is 4.5-5 hours from Pattaya, #3 all the way.

Hi everyone. My husband and I will be visiting Thailand for the 1st time (30 days visa-free). We are South African Nationals and currently in India and will be traveling from India to Thailand end of November.

Please tell me the correct amount of currency/financial proof we would need to show immigration? I'm getting mixed messages. Some sites say we'll need to show 20,000 TBH per family and others say 40,000 TBH.

Does it have to be cash?

We'll be renting a friend's apartment, so do we need to get a letter from her, or do they only require an address?

Thanx
