Report from BKK and questions about marriage visas… I have a US passport and entered thailand today. I had previously spent a few years on the covid extensions and then left thailand for almost a year and came back today through BKK as soon as they scanned my passport they took me aside to a small office and asked questions why am i here so long. I told them I am gettind married here this summer and the officer asked to call my girlfriend to talk to her. After he was satisfied we are telling the truth he let me in with a tourist exempt but told me this is the last time and that he made a note in the computer not to let me in without a marriage visa. That as long as i have a marriage visa i will be allowed in and can stay long no problems but no No more tourist visas. (I dont know if he meant only tourist exempt or if even a TR60 tourist visa will also be denied for me) I saw them pulling off quite a few other passengers presumably for also spending too much time here during covid. … my question about marriage visas. I don’t actually plan to live here or stay long term. I just plan to visit for a few weeks and weekends here and there. I will soon be legally married to my thai wife. Is there some kind of multi entry or some kind of marriage visa that doesn’t require the $400,000 deposit? What kind of options would you all suggest for me? Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user reported being questioned at BKK (Bangkok) upon entry to Thailand, where they informed immigration officers about their upcoming marriage to a Thai citizen. The officers advised that moving forward, only a marriage visa would allow for future entries and longer stays, warning that tourist visas may be denied. The user inquired about visa options since they only plan to visit occasionally after their marriage. Commenters suggested that upon getting legally married, the user can apply for a multiple-entry Non-O visa at a Thai consulate without the need to show proof of funds. They also mentioned the possibility of obtaining a single-entry Non-O visa for 90 days, followed by a potential extension of an additional 60 days if the user is officially married before the visa expires.
90 DAY REPORTING RESOURCES / SERVICES
Use the trusted Thailand 90 Day Reporting Serviceto get your in-person report done and mailed to you for as low as 375 THB (even if the online system doesn't work for you).

If you don't enter Thailand for any length of time after you are married you can also get a single entry 90 day Non-O visa each time you come. Towards the end of the 90 days you can apply for a 60 day visit family extension giving you close to 150 days (can also get on your current entry if officially married before your stamp runs out)
good idea! Do you know if the single non O is available from the evisa site or thats something we have to apply in person? ……Im also thinking about getting a 60 day marriage extension on this stamp although I probably don’t actually need more than an extra two or three weeks this trip.
You can apply for multiple entry Non-O based on being married to a Thai at the Thai consulate in Savannakhet without having to show proof of funds once you get married legally.
Multiple Entry Non-immigrant visa is valid for 1 year. You will be stamped for 90 days for each entry until the "valid until" date on the visa sticker. The multiple Entry visa fee at Savannakhet is 5000 Thai baht.
You need to check the website of Savannakhet for basic information.
thanks for this info! Sorry if i ask too much like a noob. Usually most questions and answers online are about the one year stay with proof of funds so thats the topic i find most when i search… questions for you (or whoever knows) besides savannakhet is this available at other nearby embassies. For example Vietnam or China? (as I go to these two countries regularly. I have never been to Laos)
, There are some others that issue multiple Non-O but all require you to show proof of funds. No other places issue multiple entry Non-O marriage without proof of funds. At least I don't know anywhere else now.
