For Bangkok isn't there supposed to be possible to go to some of the other centers to do this? I haven't done it but it would save the darn trip all the way out to govt complex...

It's amusing that the address which is on your driver license doesn't actually count and cannot be used for a car registration and transfer...? :-D

Can I stay in Thailand for 165 days using visa-exempt entries and extensions?

According to official regulation the bus ticket is not approved. It says it has to be a flight ticket. As said it's mostly airline that cares and enforces this.

There are many nice countries around why don't you book a ticket out to one of them.

Ok. Good. Try to gather all things mentioned, update Bangkok and get history, and verification from the bank and go SAME day to immigration. They'll tell if you need any more stuff. Usually you do

I think i needed rental contract and proof of payment too. At least initially.

Money need to be wired into bank 2 months before you can get 1 year extension.

Meanwhile they can give you 90d non-o visa usually, but money meds to be there already and basically all the info.

I'm surprised that you had a non-o visa already, for 3 months? If so then maybe you waited too long to transfer the money?
