I visited Koh Chang immigration to confirm my 90 days. Officer told me that my 90 d runs from the date I renewed my visa (Jan 30) and not from my last arrival in Thailand (Jan 15). In the past trigger was always based on last arrival date. Is there a change of rule? Thanks for advise.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the 90-day reporting rule after visiting an immigration office in Koh Chang, where they were informed that the 90 days would start from the date of their visa renewal (January 30) rather than their last entry into Thailand (January 15). This raised questions about potential changes in immigration rules. Responses from the community clarified that when a yearly visa extension is granted, the 90-day reporting date can be reset if a new 90-day report receipt is issued. Users emphasized the importance of checking for this receipt when applying for extensions and mentioned that some immigration offices may have different practices.

Okay, here's a fool proof way to know whether the immigration office "reset" your 90 day reporting when you get your yearly extension.

When you get your yearly extension inked in at the immigration office and get your passport back ASK YOURSELF

If that answer is yes and you do indeed have a new 90 day report receipt with a new 90 day report date then the immigration office DID reset your 90 day reporting when you got the extension

however

If that answer is no and you did not get a new 90 day report receipt in your passport then the immigration office DID NOT reset your 90 day reporting and you follow the date on the receipt you have.

This works without fail 100% of the time, ๐Ÿ™‚ (I mean you either did get a new receipt or you didn't ๐Ÿ˜› )

IF you have a new paper like this, they DID reset your 90 days, if you don't they didn't and you go by your old paper or the date you entered the country last

If I leave and reenter, I always visit local immigration after return home and they put new 90 paper in passport. Have to report for TM 30 anyway

I said not the problem if you live in Bangkok we never redid our team 30 and I've even changed passports meanwhile. Over my 4 years. And I left plenty of times.

But yes you need to do the 90 day reports if you stayed 90 days...

I've asked immigration about it some years ago I said no you don't need to do it at least not in Bangkok.

But next time you go you better ask them... Maybe only you need to do it ;-)

@James *******
when? I did mine in person 3 months ago. No problem.

Are you talking about Bangkok?

Can you be more precise what has changed and what is the source?

@Wayne *******
that's quite unusual seeing as the 90 day resets when you enter and you have to count down when the next report is due on your own.

What office does this?

Is this summary correct?

You had been holding your 1-year extension(s). You entered Thailand on 15 January with a re-entry permit, then applied for a new 1-year extension on 30 January.

Some offices overwrite your 90-day report due date with your 1-year extension application. in most of these cases, you would have a new 90-day receipt or notification with a new due date. At least I understand so.

The best (in the future) is to ask your local office for confirmation of the next 90-day report due when you apply and get a new 1-year extension.
