depends if one is here long term of just a few years. Assimilation takes time and many miss the goods things from back home. In my opinion it's all about balance and Thailand is perfect for that as it offers a variety of life styles and you can enjoy a hybrid of Western and Thai here

Out of those 3 locations i would spend less on Phuket and more time at Krabi. 2 days at Phiphi is about right, any longer can get pretfy repeitive and you'll be sick of the backpackers

wise offers the best rate with the lowest fees generally, and usually much faster than overseas bank to bank

Depends on the temple, worst case scenario, they charge you 400 baht for some 100 baht elephant pants

exactly, but then the point that they are able to retire stands. I taught in China for a few years, it was fun in my 20's but i didn't do it for the sport of it haha. Hard work!

good idea, but if they are in a position to retire at/under 50 then i doubt his wife wants to come here to teach full time for a relatively low income

You have all of Thailand to choose from and you go with Pattaya so i think you know what you're going there for and that always comes with some risks.

Traffic is just so bad, live near the bts somewhere and grab for anything beyond that. There are also great services available for further trips like huahin etc.

Though with a surname like yours you may prefer a car 😅
