TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion around the proposed entry fee to Thailand, particularly the 300 baht tourism tax, suggests that it has not been officially implemented as of now. The general sentiment expressed by commenters ranges from skepticism about the feasibility and necessity of such fees to indicating that announcements regarding the fee have merely been proposals or ideas floated by the government. There is also mention of an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) expected to be introduced, although its details and potential fees are still under discussion. No definitive legislation has been confirmed, which leaves the topic uncertain and largely speculative at this time.

Yeh they’ve started a new pricing tactic based on where you come from, not where you were born, but where you lived between 1990-1997. 23 paper copies of official documents are required as evidence, and translated. 🙄… coming soon
most people panicking over a few quid, maybe can't really afford to be travelling. Never read so many gripes about paying extra 50p here and there for food or taxi or a small fee for entering a country. 🤦
definitely won't happen as it will then hit Thais and long stay visa holders. That's the entire reason they haven't implemented it yet. But if they add the fee for filing the ETA that solves all the problems.
the original plan was to include basic accident insurance with the bt300 fee, as a significant number of people leave without paying their hospital bills for injuries.
that is already gone from the proposal. Now it's just "to support tourism"

Do you mean the ETA? The government announced on September 23 that the December launch date would be delayed. I am not sure which passport you have, but it is intended for those who hold one of the 93 countries granted visa-free entry.
I only use cards, don't know about apps. Most places that don't take cash will accept cards. I just had a month in Australia, didn't use cash once, and I'm still alive! 😂
from January you will have a ETA FEE into UK also if you are in transit you have to pay and Europe it’s going to happen all over the world soon ….Tax Tax just for us travellers to cough up more money
Yes they are, but they'll be integrated. The logistical problem with the 300 baht was collection. The airlines don't want to do it, and it would be impossible to segregate tourists from non-immigrant entries. Collection at immigration would only add further to the queues and congestion at busy times. Some bright spark suggested the ETA (which was announced back in March) would provide the opportunity to levy the charge on tourists, as only visa exempt entries will be subject to the ETA
Not quite. The tourism tax was delayed because the government didn't know how to determine tourist entries from longstay visa holders. The ETA allows for this, as payment will be made when application for the ETA is completed online. It'll be through the Thai visa website. They've delayed it because priority is being given to the remaining countries to get into eVisa
Can't recall where I read it, but it was the tourism minister who indicated the new PM wants the 300 baht tax put back on the table with the impending introduction of the ETA
Nothing new... "postponed" at the moment, but new "talking/thinking" from the new minister of tourism again. Anyway... TiT... so... Que sera, sera... 😁
No, this was a proposal which was approved in the first place in 2023 and later declined and has nothing to do with any fees included in your ticket. This was supposed to be collected at the borders.
