Why are foreigners considered low value customers by Bangkok Bank?

Over 1200 branches worldwide and estimated 17M customers.

The minute number of foreigners here that bank there are of zero consequence to them.

Most of those “customers” cannot afford to deposit 800K to secure a legal retirement visa. They could not care less about your piddly monthly deposit that you scan around town for the month.

funny thing is the only thing they wanted to see (in Laos) was a bank account of my wife showing 20,000 baht. I don’t remember showing our marriage certificate. At the time we only had our US one. I do remember we had to apply today and pick it up tomorrow. So it’s not instant.

For my first 4 years using the Jomtien office I had to file a new one every trip. Last trip my landlord told me it’s no longer required, to just keep the old one. It changes when the wind blows. So who knows how long this will last.

What should I do about continual issues with my marriage visa application in Thailand?

I was renewing my marriage extension in BKK. I was seated next to a guy and we started to chat a little.

He said he was on his 20+ consecutive years of renewing the same marriage extension, at the same office, with the same lady and if one I isn’t dotted or one T is not properly crossed she sends him home.

It’s idiotic.
