What should I expect when extending my Non O visa in Bangkok after previously applying in Ubon?

Can someone shed some light on this for me....

Applying for my 2nd extension of stay on my Non O based on marriage. This time in CW because I now have a work permit and live in BKK.

We have to do an interview with a “supervisor” and explain why we are applying in BKK when we originally applied in Ubon (last year). Despite them seeing my WP and knowing why we moved. The supervisor will decide “if” I get an extension or not.

Is it really that dramatic? Has no one else in the history of Thailand immigration applied for an extension in a different city than their original extension?

The whole thing just seems ludicrous.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarity on the process of applying for a second extension of stay on their Non O visa based on marriage after moving from Ubon to Bangkok. They express frustration about having to undergo an interview with a supervisor in Bangkok, questioning the necessity of this step since they have a work permit and have already informed immigration about their change of residence. Comments from other users suggest that applying in a different city might raise scrutiny due to the previous extension location and provide reassurance about the required documentation and process, emphasizing that as long as paperwork is in order, the situation should resolve without issues.

You get a 30 day under consideration stamp like everyone else does when you apply for a new yearly extension. As long as you have a TM30 filed, a lease, proof you live in Bangkok (and you obviously work here) all they're doing is breaking your balls because that previous extension is from a province KNOWN for back-door, under the table, wink-n-nod visa extensions :O

They will come to your house and do the home inspection and you'll be fine.

thanks Tod. We just got a call from CW and the nod that our paperwork was indeed accepted and we have an interview at CW 0830 Monday. Then we can drop the passport and start the official process. So silly. But again, all our shit is in order and just had to play the game.

that's crazy that they didn't even let you apply, take your money OR give you the under consideration stamp, Instead just pushed it up the "ladder". Again it was because of where that previous extension was issued from. BUT if you'd showed an address there previously you shouldn't have had a problem

Congrats,

thanks for the insight. I didn’t realize Ubon was so notorious for being a shit show. It was infuriating but I couldn’t feel too bad because it’s not like they are trying to extort me. They never took a baht. Matter of fact when we left yesterday they noted we had to have the interview by COB Monday or I would need new bank letters again (3rd time). Just all in all a weird situation. But thanks for the good words and Intel on why it most likely happened.

good to hear

As long as you can get a local witness to come and they can fill in a form provided by immigration with copy of their house book and I'd card should be fine.

Not sure where you are from but us Brits have a word for it.

Prior to you apply for an extension did submit a TM28 (I think that's the one) notifying immigration that you've changed residence in a new province?

when I signed my lease the property manager/agency reported my new address and gave me the receipt to “prove” it was done.

@St***
That's surprising, that's 100% how it's supposed to be done but I've never heard of one actually doing it.

aside from not reporting residency, I have no idea why they would give you a hard time with getting a new extension at CW. Maybe they're doing the marriage verification interview.

we definitely have to do the interview after the paperwork is accepted by the supervisor, then we have to do the home interview as well. It’s silly. But it is what it is.
