Criminal Record Check requirements for non immigrant O-A visa.

My question is what is required by the Thai Consulate in US to verify no criminal history. I have a letter from my state's DOJ saying 'my fingerprints did not identify any criminal history record maintained by this Bureau.' It then goes on to say that 'the response does not constitute a certified letter and cannot be used for an apostille.' Do I need a certified letter from the California DOJ to be sent to the Secretary of State's office to affix an apostille? Or will the letter that I have suffice?

I appreciate this group and the through answers you all have given me on previous questions.

Hey all, we're moving to Chiang Mai this fall. My husband will be teaching. I'm curious if anyone from the US knows this...does the background check for the Non-Immigrant Type B visa have to apostilled or officially certified? Or can we just order it from the FBI and that's good enough?

Same question in regard to birth certificates and marriage certificates.

Good afternoon. I've been extending my annual retirement visa for the past years based upon the 800k method. I happend to be in the German embassy yesterday on other business when one of the staff asked me why I don't use the income letter method to extend my annual visa. Apparently the embassy can issue an income letter for Thai immigration. (costs1350 Baht)

This morning I went to immigration in Hua Hin and indeed they verified this, however an additional apostille would be required for the document from the Thailand department of foreign affaires in Bangkok......very strange. Your comments would be appreciated. Thank you
