Just reading some of the many issues that others are having or had.. I’m currently on a retirement O visa, doing my 90 day reporting on time etc. my renewal is up in August for the visa, just to clarify do I reapply for a new visa or an extension, I used an agent when I first applied, got the 3 months extension and 12 months retirement all at the same time so essentially 15 month, I’m in Korat and the immigration office is very good… do I just apply for a new retirement visa and does the extension automatically come with it.. ?

Hi. Asking for a friend. He has been granted an E Visa Type Non Immigrant "O" 90 day multi entry from the Royal Thai Embassy in Ottawa Canada.

Question he is asking is can he go to the local immigration office in Korat and apply for a yearly extension based on retirement when he has 30 days left. He has the 800k baht in his own Thai bank account so that's not an issue.

He is arriving in 2 weeks time and I have already advised him to file a TM30 the next day. He is married to a Thai so no issues with filing a TM30.

I want to.report on my successful out come getting a retirement 1y r visa today from Korat immigration

First of all the office is friendly and super helpful.

the facts:

-Entered last week of November 2022 as tourist from Australia

- opened a bank account using an agent. Same agent quoted me 28,000 to process the retirement visa and i thought i give it a try on my own

- December i went to the immigration office in korat and asked what i needed to do for the visa and they gave me all the forms and supporting document i needed to submit. They mentioned i was to be in Thailand 50 days or something before i submit the application which required 30 day extension

- I deposited 800,000 baht

- early January i went for the 30 day extension and soon after i went again to process the retirement visa

-submitted all necessary passport and bank book copies, the filled application and the TM30 documents. They granted 90 days retirement provision and asked me to go back before the 90 days is over

- went there today re-submitted all the above mentioned with a new bank book updated. 1 year visa granted today

Other facts: i had to leave the country in February and i asked for re-entry permit from immigration which was granted. Today they told me j bad to do the 90 days report either in person or online. Also told me i was eligible to apply for residents certificate

Yesterday I finally applied for my one year retirement visa here in the Korat immigration office and it went ok. I am Australian and deposited the required 800,000 in my K-bank a week earlier. The only hiccup was the bank statement and updated passbook that both had to be issued from the bank the day of application. Meaning i had to go back to the bank and get new ones and rush back to immigration. I did offer to show a credit advice as proof that the funds were from abroad, but they said they did not need it.

Everyone was polite and helpful, but some confusion initially about what happens next.

I arrived in Bangkok on October first and got the 45 day exemption. Eventually after I had paid and submitted my application, I was told that they would not stamp me today, but that I come back on Nov 11, 3 days before the 45 day exemption expires, and I would be stamped for 90 days, presumably allow the 800,000 to “cook” for the required two months. After the 90 days I will get my one year visa.

I can leave Thailand during those 90 days if of course I get a reentry visa.

I am pretty satisfied with this outcome as it stands and I just want to thank this group and those who gave me some advice earlier 🙂

Hi, I posted a few days ago but need advice on my stay. I'm in Korat currently. I arrived in Thai on Dec 6 from the USA on a 30 day visa free. On Dec 28 I went and they gave me a 60 day extention giving me now until March 5. No one ever said and I never really asked immigration whether I got 60 days because of covid or ? My question is pertaining to whether I could get another extention or is it not even worth pursuing? I'd like to get another 30 days if it's available to me and really not into border hops but not sure if they would do. Any thoughts?

My long term plans are to go after a retirement visa and apply before I leave but my bank deposit won't season in time(60 days) and my pension is not going to thai bank either. I make enough on pension but they told me it needs to go into thai bank for 12 months to qualify. Figured I'd deposit the 800k and apply before I leave then come back when visa approved after the 60 days sometime. Thoughts again? Thanks all!!

I'm just back from Korat immigration with my 1 year extension of stay (Thai wife), I'm good now till 17/11/21. When I received my "under consideration" stamp, I was expecting the home visit but not expecting the need to have 2 neighbors present. These could not be relatives. They had to have their house books, ID cards and copies thereof. They were interviewed quite formally. My wife and I had to sit outside while the interview was in progress. But, all's well that ends well! Thanks again for all your collective help! Keep up the good work, as I'm sure I'll need your help again in the future.

Korat (Dan kwian) immigration.

I rang I.O. yesterday to enquire about the 60 day extension (Thai family). The officer was helpful and friendly. She advised me to come " sooner rather than later" as all 60 day (Thai family) extensions would be valid until the 25 November, regardless of the application date. I arrived at the I.O. this morning at 9.30 and was gone by 10.30., with my 60 day (Thai family) extension valid until 25 November. This message is for people using Dan Kwian immigration, other offices may have different rules and regulations.
