I want to.report on my successful out come getting a retirement 1y r visa today from Korat immigration

First of all the office is friendly and super helpful.

the facts:

-Entered last week of November 2022 as tourist from Australia

- opened a bank account using an agent. Same agent quoted me 28,000 to process the retirement visa and i thought i give it a try on my own

- December i went to the immigration office in korat and asked what i needed to do for the visa and they gave me all the forms and supporting document i needed to submit. They mentioned i was to be in Thailand 50 days or something before i submit the application which required 30 day extension

- I deposited 800,000 baht

- early January i went for the 30 day extension and soon after i went again to process the retirement visa

-submitted all necessary passport and bank book copies, the filled application and the TM30 documents. They granted 90 days retirement provision and asked me to go back before the 90 days is over

- went there today re-submitted all the above mentioned with a new bank book updated. 1 year visa granted today

Other facts: i had to leave the country in February and i asked for re-entry permit from immigration which was granted. Today they told me j bad to do the 90 days report either in person or online. Also told me i was eligible to apply for residents certificate

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shares their successful experience of obtaining a 1-year retirement visa from Korat immigration. After entering Thailand as a tourist, they navigated the requirements by opening a bank account, submitting necessary documents, and fulfilling the 50-day stay rule. They also mention receiving a re-entry permit and the process for reporting every 90 days. The conversation includes queries from other expats about the process, the helpfulness of immigration offices, and the requirements for a residence certificate.

Brook may I ask witch visa agent you use in CM. I will be applying for a retirement visa there in 6 month.

That would be much appreciated.

I have the Non-O Visa with 1 Year Extension. What is the Resident Certficate and why us it good to get? Thanks
Riny ************
@Mark ********
I think you mean the TM 30 Residents certificate to be able to open a bank acc./buy a car/get a Thai drivers license. It just tells where you stay in Thailand. Every time you move to a new place the landlord should rapport it to Immigration with a TM 30 application.

@Riny ***********
Thanks Riny. I didn't realize it was the same as TM30. I haveva driver's license, bank accounts and car. Yes O have the TM30 when needed.

@Mark ********
applying for or buying a

Car

Bank acc

Driving licence and lots more things

Very easy to get
Mark *********
@David *******
Thanks David. If the same as a TM30 that is already covered.
Paul *******
I think that you received an extension of stay rather than a visa.
Ronald *********
I need to find out more about this
Brook ********
My Agent charged ฿7,000 for my non-o based on retirement.

I was in the CM immigration office all of 1 minute.
Chan ******
@Brook *******
May I also gey your agent contact please? Asked 2 agents in pattaya, cannot open account. May need to try in CM
Brook ********
@Chan *****
My agent is in chiang mai. You should find an experienced, competent, reputable agent in your home province.

This was a three step process;

1. Arrive visa exempt

2 Convert to Non O (90 day)

3. Apply for one year extension based on retirement on 65th day (with multiple re-entry permit).

Steps 2 and three were each about ฿7-8k
Chan ******
@Brook *******
Yes, you are right. My case is mother nowadays cannot open bank account with tourist visa. Cannot apply non o visa on my home country as her age is over the max insurable age. Therefore, I want to find agent in other provinces to check if she can open bank account.

Ask in bkk and pattaya, both said she cannot open bank account with tourist visa.
Brook ********
@Chan *****
You can open a bank account on a tourist visa.

Ask more branches. Dress well and make a sizable opening deposit. If all else fails get an agent to assist you.
Chan ******
@Brook *******
Asked 2 agents in pattaya, they said rules changed, cannot do with tourist visa. Also, asked several branches in bkk and hq, also cannot do.
Stuart ******
Brook would you mind sharing the agent you used in CM. I'll be applying for a non-O retirement visa in 6 mth from now. Would be much appreciated.
Chan ******
@Brook *******
How long ago for this price please? Is it from tourist visa to non-o 90 days, then 1 year retirement visa please? Thank you so much.
Frank **********
I got a Certificate of Residency on a Visa Exempt in Maha Sarakham before I even applied for my Non O. Not a big deal to get one.
Chan ******
By the way, you submitted rental contract for how long please?

That's great, always good to hear of people who jump the immigration hoops successfully. Korat's a difficult office too, their 50 days-in rule is a new one on me and different from the other offices which require 15 days remaining. All the same, well done in jumping their hoops
Nick ************
Congratulations. It must be nice to have a helpful immigration office though, in fairness, all the staff at mine have just changed and the new officers seem much better! They even offered to copy my passport for me but I had a copy yesterday.

Kaung *****
Where shall we apply the residence certificate? And what are the requirements??
Dimitris ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Kaung ****
in korat immigration is an office next door. In my case the requirements are 3 copies of passport 3 copies of TM 30 supporting docs and a copy of retirement visa
Chan ******
@Dimitris ***********
Other than open bank account, may I know what is the usage for the residence certificate please? Thank you
Brandon ************
@Chan *****
also used for drivers license
Chan ******
@Brandon ***********
Thank you, can it use to get the pink ID card please?
Brandon ************
@Chan *****
every district office has different requirements for pink ID. Some do not even issue it at all. You need to contact the district office for your residence and ask them what they require. There's thousands of these offices across Thailand so there's no way to answer your question directly.

@Brandon ***********
Thank you so much.
